I am currently sitting on a mountain top.
I went outside and screamed fuck yeah! And heard my Cubs joy echoing off the mountains miles away.
Magnificence.

Mrs. Scorehead and I left church today and went to visit my dad and my brothers grave. I miss them both dearly. Left a Cubs 2016 world series hat for each of them. Lots of Cubs fans at the cemetary today.

Do other people visit the dead when their team wins or are some people romanticizing their relationships and/or fandom?

Red Sox fans did it in 2004.

White Sox fans did it in 2005.

I didn't know the Cubs won the World Series yet.

I blacked out drunk last night but I didn't know I slept for a week.

I checked the headlines, nothing about the Cubs winning a World Series so I don't know what the hell is going on.

I cried, and I'm not ashamed to admit it.
There are a lot of people whose loved ones instilled their love of this team who are not around anymore.
My parents weren't even alive in 1945, nor was my stepdad. My grandma passed in September of 2008.
You have to be really old to know what this feels like until last night.
It's getting a little dusty in here so I'll just leave it at that.

I thought Dr. Ken was younger than that. Maybe he was just cougar-hunting, though.

I think of departed friends & family that have passed along their love for the Cubs to many of us here & beyond.

I think of departed well known people such as Ron Santo, Ernie Banks, Harry Caray, Jack Brickhouse, Steve Goodman and many other famous Northside lovers.

I especially think of The Chicago Tribune's late cartoonist, Jeff MacNelly. Great editorial cartoonist, creator of the comic strip, "Shoe" and "Pluggers" and most of all a diehard Cubs fan. Some of his great original work is proudly displayed at Harry Caray's.

I really thought I would cry but just sat stunned that it was actually happening. Ate some pizza and went to bed only to get called out to work at 4 AM. Back at 6 AM. Started looking at articles and video on web and then it got to me a bit. So tired at that point I fell in bed and wife let me be until noon. Still in a state of grogginess but could be the cold I have been fighting for the last week.

I was happy. The game was somewhat anti-climatic. When Contreras mashed a dong I knew it was done. I was in Cleveland with my cousins so it was a fun time since they're Indian fans.

While happy, I can't have the overwhelming joy MANY other Cubs fans had. The Cubs have actually been a pretty decent team relatively speaking for millenial Cub fans. It's hard to grasp the war scars gen-x and older Cubs have.
