It will be interesting to see if we get to see their home base or not.

However, we saw one of their bases when Rick's group killed everyone. It was not nice at all.

The guy is clearly an unhinged psychopath. There is no way he is a good leader to his own people and many of them seem to follow him out of fear. The other bases and groups that Rick's group killed last season were living in far worse conditions than Rick and his crew were. They also didn't seem like the kind of people that would be happy working with someone like Negan and the way he is working his way into power. I know the reason is "fear" of him but they were so far away from him Negan was either powerless or indifferent to save them. Eventually, he got around to revenge but it was mostly to assimilate them with a trade that was horrible in terms of numbers for the group.

Now, imagine you are one of his core army. How have you not gotten together and killed Negan yet? He's got a bat while you have assault rifles, he let multiple groups of yours die, he made you watch a completely unhinged torturing of another group of people, and you don't look like you are living a happy life in the least with your old beat up cars and terrible living conditions. Also, he keeps on attacking groups like this who he makes really mad and scared who will obviously eventually rise up against him. He made it clear in his speeches this was how he rules and none of his army even seemed to flinch at what he is doing.

It was a cool episode though. I just hope this isn't a whole season of Negan being this psychopathic supervillian that everyone just follows and dies along side until we get to the eventual cathartic scene of Rick cutting his throat. I mean, I'll be cheering like I'm watching a baseball game when it happens but I still have questions about the true believability of Negan's network.

Once you start to conspire to kill Negan, he will find out and kill you.

I'm going to guess this proves to be a false statement this season.

If they do this right, I think you are going to enjoy this season Rick.

damn that was tough to watch even though I knew it was gonna be both of them. Seeing Glenn's eye ball like that in the comics was gory, but seeing it with live action was surprisingly very tough for me.

Fantastic episode, they did a good job breaking Rick. It's going to be a whole new show from here on out, very excited to see how long the Negan storyline stretches out. Will it be just one season or will it extend for a couple?

I imagine next week we'll get the Kingdom.

Question is, when will we get Tara and Heath? I assume it will be a stand alone episode when it eventually shows up.

So far, he's quite hinged. Very rational. Most of that was a show for Rick and his own men. Rick was the irrational one, thinking he could take on another group without scouting them first.

Well, they are still up pretty good on the kill counts, and Rick is clearly going to win this one in the end too.

Killing Glenn means that Rick's group will never assimilate. They will sit and wait for their opportunity.

My favorite parts of the episode were the Negan reaction shots to Rick's stubborn refusal to give in. The look in his eyes were tremendous - that "for real? you're still sticking with this?" look in Negan's eyes were great.

You can half-crap me, IMU. I tuned in, fast forwarded to see who got the bat, then deleted the episode. I need some WD ED pills. I couldn't care less about this show anymore.

Great episode.

Probably the best in the past couple years.

You missed the Rick / Carl scene. That was one of the best in the whole series, I think.

Yes, I watched it. Rick was completely broken by the end of this ordeal and he looks completely defeated. This is a huge change compared to pre-meditated murder Rick from last season.

And you watched who got the bat and then turned it off? Did you see the second person who go the bat?

I agree. Negan had him hooked thru the bag at that point. He's just a sad broken man now.

It's shocking to see really. The last time a group of bad dudes had Rick surrounded and were threatening to hurt Carl, he ripped the guy's throat out with his teeth. This time he grabbed the hatchet and was a heartbeat away from chopping off his son's hand.

Yes, I should say "bats." Frank's comment had me waiting around to see victim #2. Ending last season with the first kill would have been perfect. We think we will see the fallout in the opener, then they immediately gut punch us with the second kill. Nah, they waited six months.

I think they (the writers) should have let Rick do it. That would have really cemented Negan as an all-time TV villain in basically 1 episode.

I was pretty sure he'd stop him but not entirely sure. All the stuff in the episode led up to that and I thought it was all really effective. I was trying to think "would they really have a kid with one eye and one hand?" That's rough.

Yeah, that was a great scene, both in the comics and the series. Couldn't watch that episode again, though.

Interesting to see the zombies feeding on the fresh matter left over from the beatings....disgusting, but effective.

Agreed; the one eye and the hair are handicaps enough. Give the kid a break, ya know?

I figured Negan would stop Rick, a la Genesis.

..and Negan was totally justified. If the roles were reversed and Negan attacked Rick and Rick won no one from Negan's crew would have survived.

The only reason Rick is the protagonist of this series is that we have been following him from the start. He's done equally deplorable things.

I keep coming back to what will be the end game of this show? It feels like an unwinnable video game.

Yup, Rick and the rest of the gang murdered a bunch of Negan's guys in cold blood.

I wouldn't be surprised if its a budget/CGI issue. Might be an expensive pain in the ass to hide his arm for the rest of the series. I always thought that was why Rick was spared his comic fate on that front.

They basically have said that. The cost and pain in the ass it would be for the rest of the series

You're probably right but Carl is not on screen nearly as much as Rick or in action-type sequences. You could hide that pretty easily with minimal CGI.

Kirkman has always said that cutting off Rick's arm was his biggest regret. Made things too difficult from a story perspective.

I would say the WD is pretty much B&B to me where it's usually more entertaining to read about it than to actually watch/listen.
