I found myself accompanying some folks to an Indian restaurant ... I didn't realize that was the destination til we got there ... a real bummer considering they were literally next door to a BBQ joint like a normal person would go to.

I had no idea what to expect. I had some of their bread (Naan?) and it was alright, and I ordered something chicken that on the menu looked normal enough.

I didn't realize all Indian food is apparently all drenched in goop.

Everything everyone ordered was basically goop.

Chicken? Goop. Lamb? Goop? Goop, goop, goop.

Me no likey da goop.

The flavors weren't bad, but it was like eating in a foreign language and not knowing quite how to translate it.

Not sure why I wrote that. Even less sure why you read it.

yeah i like indian food but i'm not going out of my way for it or craving it. Naan is pretty much awesome though but i prefer peshwari naan.

i hate curry for a number of reasons that i won't go into as well so theres that.

Snacking on celery and peanut butter. Tasty snack, but even better at clearing out me innards.

I hate Indian food. There is always too much of something or something I'm not a fan of in every dish. Makes it taste off.

VERY solid. Dude, I haven't had their pizza in probably 7 or 8 years, but I remember it fondly.

Indian and Pakistani food can be awesome, but I believe its a bit of an acquired taste.

I agree. It is like this:

"Have I acquired a taste for food?" Yes. "Indian food tastes good."

Indian food is the best food but I understand why it's not popular in America.

As a whole, the western world likes bland foods.

Intense flavors like curry are too much of a mindfuck for Americans to enjoy.

A heads-up for the pro-Chipotle crowd ... https://chipotle.com/chicago-baseball-promo

Show support for Game 1 and score free Chipotle. On Tuesday 10/25, wear your Northsiders team gear to participating Chicago/Illinois/Northwest Indiana Chipotle locations, and you’ll get Buy-One/Get-One FREE burritos, bowls, salads, or orders of tacos.

It'll be packed. I don't want to wait 30 minutes in line.

Cool thing, though.

Wear a Cubs hat, then go to Chipotle.

I would rather drink a nice, hot cup of Clorox for lunch.

Show me someone who likes Chipotle and I'll show you someone who lives in Schaumburg.

Anyone who lives in a city with real mexican food and still goes to Chipotle is a moron.

I wouldn't call it disgusting, but it's average at best. There are MANY better options out there that will not give you diarhea.

Your issue is that you think it is a replacement for "real mexican food."

They are entirely different things. When I crave authentic Mexican, I don't go to Chipotle.

Ok I'll bite. What is Chipotle? And whatever it is, how does it differentiate between whatever it is and real mexican food when you are getting a craving?

Another question....if you were craving Chipotle and got a buritto there and then someone put a burrito next to it from an authentic Mexican place would you turn it down and eat the Chipotle instead cause you weren't in the mood for Mexican food?

Fast casual seasoned meat buffet over rice. I don't know of many Mexican places that fill a bowl with rice and allow me to put barbacoa, carnitas and steak over the top.

"Eric's stomach...what are you feeling like?"

- "I'm feeling like a shit ton of seasoned meat over a bed of rice."

or

- "I'm feeling like ... enchiladas suizas con mole, arroz y frijoles.... y una horchata grande. Gracias, señorita. ¿Que haces despues el trabajo? ... Oh... Lo siento... disculpe. Por favor... no soy feo... Necesito salir....**llorando**"

do you not understand that people can actually like food that's not "authentic" ?
it's ok....
and yea- sometimes people actually do have a taste for McDonalds, Taco Bell, etc. despite the fact that better options exist....

Well, I get a burrito bowl...but the answer is still yes.

I had a taste for Chipotle.
