Ozzie Guillen probably didn't finish 8th grade and he won a world series with an alcoholic pitcher in Freddy Garcia that probably also didn't finish 8th grade as well. And Marc Buhrle, a dumb ass cracker, who admitted going out to the bullpen for the save in the world series after having a few beers.

Let's not make this too complicated, Dan. It's baseball. There are plenty of uneducated people on the Cubs. Those uneducated people are good at baseball just like the Ivy league pitcher.

But that's Danny. Pick out the two guys that went to the Ivy league and make that be the reason that they won.

Man, you can tell Dan is gonna be angry at his kids if they don't qualify for elite schools. Embarrassed, in fact, that his friends and family will know that he didn't raise REALLY SMART KIDS. It's about him and his status. Cuz he's vain like that. He's sick. But he has enough pull to where he'll get them into Northwestern anyway even without the grades. Then he can brag to his friends about it. Cuz it's really about him.

Lebron James is a high school graduate. Can I judge him on the same scale?

He said multiple generations of his family are tight with Cornell and he should have enough pull to get them in to Duke. It's not all that difficult to get in to these schools as a legacy. I've written before that his kids are pretty much (academically) failure proof.

He should practice the same principles he uses to have his kids live where they see brown people and let his kids go to UIC. He should check his privilege.

Theo seems like good guy who doesn't reference his education. That is probably a good idea for a legacy entry who followed up in San Diego for law school

No comprendo.

I think he means that a guy with a degree in "American Studies" from Yale, who didn't stay in the Ivy League for law school, is reluctant to do a deep dive on his curriculum vitae and its academic merits.

It was either Jed or Theo that said plainly on the radio he missed most of law school yet still passed. He spent most of his time in Arizona for baseball.

What does that even mean? He's already staking out territory for when the Cubs lose. Going to ditch the whole "Championships.Matter" angle so he can continue sucking dick.

Though I refuse to read it, Danny B apparently wrote an entire article dedicated to how dumb fans need to stop calling the Cubs WS bid "unbelievable.'

Compelling stuff.

Just read that. That's half of his schtick right there--purposely misconstruing what others say (either by interpreting too literally or too figuratively) and then burying them. It's bad faith, it's poor argumentation, and it's a friggin' joke. Call him on it and he gets loud and talks over you.

Not that you didn't already know this....I'm just venting.

today during the 3pm hour he basically disavowed the white sox and admitted his cub fandom.. not only because of his belief in really smart people and the plan.... but because of the business relationship WSCR has with the cubs

He's from a family of lawyers. He likes to act like he's a lawyer himself. But a lawyer should understand when he's not in a courtroom or a deposition and people are speaking colloquially rather than specifically. I share an office with my cousin who is a lawyer. One time I was talking about how many people were on the train or something and I said, "Yeah, there were a million people on the Red Line this morning." My cousin said, "I'm sure there weren't a million." That's annoying. That's bernstein.

This is perhaps too much of a hockey deep-dive for this board, but in the 2010 World Junior Championships, there was a big dramatic late/sudden-death (I don't remember which, it's not key) goal that gave Canada the late lead/win (again, not key). The play-by-play announcer tried to create a Jack Buck/Scully moment of his own, a signature line giving way to pure crowd enthusiasm. "JORDAN EBERLE! CAN YOU BELIEVE IT?"

Who but fucking Pierre McGuire should chime in immediately and say "well, actually, I can, because if you look at the goalie's positioning and the shooting lanes...", and you can sense his poor partner just staring daggers at him for shitting all over the climax of the game.

What's the old joke? Ask a lawyer if the sky is blue and he'll say "define blue"?

Spot on. I don't even know if it's the family of lawyers, though. Some people are just very literal douchebags. They don't understand the concept of speaking figuratively. One of my college buddies was like that.

Dan also doesn't understand the concept of lying. Whenever there's a press conference with some sports executive, Dan gets all bent out of shape when they don't do what they said they would. You know why, Dan? Because he's lying, and he doesn't give a fuck if you know it.

Exactly. They owe you the press conference. They don't owe you the truth.

I also find it weird when he is surprised and dismayed by lying. It is especially entertaining when he does his testify under oath thing. Oath to who? Some God he doesn't believe in or threat of perjury which almost no one goes down for.
