it really has nothing to do who was winning. its been in my craw for a while now. the combination of the cubs being on the other side, it being joe buck probably just let it overboil.

I was talking to a buddy this morning about this exact thing. Kluber was rolling there was no reason to take him out. In a dominating 6 to 0 win you should not have to load down you stud reliever. If I am an Indian fan this morning that pisses me off.

I agree, but that is what Francona has done so far all postseason and the Indians are 8-1. It was also only 3-0 when Kluber was pulled.

Francona is also 9-0 career in WS games managed. I doubt that improves to 12-0 this series, but that is incredibly impressive so far.

In addition to wanting to preserve Kluber, Francona knew Miller had been rested for six days, so I don't think it was a bad move. It looks worse due to how things played out, but I think it was the right decision.

it sounds simple to hear "leave anything at the knees down, and anything headed outside corner to a leftie" but it's difficult to do until you've faced a pitcher a few times. I'm pessimistic by nature, but I think they'll hit Miller and the Cubs destroy pitching that's not ace level. It really surprised me to see Francona burn through two innings with Miller. The last batter before he got Kyle out, he seemed tired and like he was missing spots.
I think this will go at least 6. Maybe 7. If it goes 7 you have to figure Indians.

If Kluber has to be on video game mode and they need 45 pitches per outing from Miller, I like the Cubs chances.

This feels like a classic 'Reading your headlines' game. Everyone was talking about the Cubs and the drought and the curse and all that bullshit. The fellas thought they could stroll in and just keep swinging the bats like it was nothing. Hell, they just made Kershaw look foolish in an elimination game. Kluber quickly showed them that Kershaw and Bumgarner weren't the only studs they have to face this October.

Miller was exactly like I thought. Cubs got to him and will eventually break thru. What will Francona do when he can't pull out his blankie for 2 innings every game?

The Cubs did not get to Miller. There was a walk, a bloop single, and if Davis has his head up, Schwarber gets doubled off 2nd base. If the Cubs really got to Miller, they would not have been shutout. So Miller threw ~50 pitches after sitting around for 6 days. Wow. I would think he will be ready to go tonite if/when his number is called.

i also thought that the first 2 runs were gay. things are bouncing their way i get it but like those aren't hard work runs. then serving up 2 meatballs to that turd are the only other ways they scored. it wasn't like they were manufacturing runs in really amazing ways.

He put himself into two separate jams and had to battle his way out of them. Tip of the cap on getting out of the trouble but he created the trouble. You watch enough baseball to see how weird it is... Eventually that swinging bunt that scored a run for the Indians in the first inning happens to the Cubs. You and America can try to piss in our Cheerios this morning but I'm truly not ready to worry.


Now if they lose game 2 tonight...
