If Rudy follows through and blows this does his campaign go down as one of the most misguided & largest waste of $ in U.S history. Not that it couldn't have happened to a nicer guy.

Yes, I'm sure it will be up there with other campaigns that were misguided though if Obama edges Clinton for the nomination - I'm sure people will forget Rudy's bid and Hillary's will trump it.

While Hillary's campaign has been pedestrian at best, I don't think many really foresaw the increase in voting percentages that seems to be her greatest enemy. She never attempted to (nor could) be an inspirational/good speaker, and it's not exactly as if she can be the candidate for 'change' for whatever that means. She probably never will be able to move the masses, even Democratic ones.

You do have to wonder though about an anti-NY bias that will get trumpeted (if Clinton & Giuliani go down) and what impact if any that will have on the shadow candidacy of Bloomberg.

Who does Bloomberg hurt more? McCain/Romney or Obama/Clinton? Does Bloomberg put in a typical independent performance or perot like and tip the election to one side?

I don't think most people will connect them to NY as the reason they are losing. I dislike them both, as do many others, but it has nothing to do with NY.

My point exactly. It didn't matter the music he played. He was able to capitalize on the efforts of MTV and get voting numbers up in his favor.

If Guiliani loses it's because running on a platform of saying "9/11 and terrorists" won't work in 2008 like it did in 2004.

I vowed never to vote for Guiliani after seeing him say "9/11" for the answer to everything for about a two month stretch. I don't want a president who's biggest accomplishment is getting two buildings knocked down and then not freaking out and then riding that to the White House.

The Rock the Vote campaign was very well orchestrated and extremely public. There doesn't/didn't seem to have been anything of the same magnitude this election period. There really seemed to be more of a general malaise and numbing of this election given that most dems are relatively ok with any of the three remaining contenders. Aside from that, few actually saw the 'rock star' candidate mantle sticking to Obama for long (and given that we are still early in the process, maybe it won't)

Rick, I thought the same as you. Then as I started looking into his ideas and beliefs I, to my surprise, agreed on a lot of his stances. With that said though, I couldn't get over the fact that you brought up. He probably ranks second or third for me on Republicans though. I like him better than Romney, that's for sure.

As the ratings rise, Hillary's poll numbers would plummet. She'd probably snap and try killing him on air.

I would generally like to believe that most wouldn't make that connection, but should they both lose, the media with it's love of easy angles would blare that out of every oriface. Once that happens, then 'conventional wisdom' will suggest...

As to who Bloomberg would harm the most, I wouldn't know given that everyone has good and bad words about him. But, on the other hand, a Romney v. Obama v. Bloomberg matchup would send a certain segment of this country absolutely apeshit.

McCain is doing better than i expected. Right now Fox News has it 34% for Mccain, 31% for Romney, and 16% for Rudy with 22% in. Their exit polling had Romney winning 35% to 31%
