Just telling you what Maddon said. I heard Silvy and Waddle report that he said this from some twitter report. JEEZ.

But maybe Schwarber wasn't really going hard while shagging. Just catching the ones right to him. Not moving much.
What Maddon said was that Schwarber was cleared to work out in left field, and that if he could play or not would be determined after the workout.

Cleveland hits junk ballers and breaking ball pitchers better than fastball pitchers. Arietta is a terrible matchup for them. Hendricks is much better.

This could be one of those rare playoff games where the starters give up a ton of runs, but stay in the game. Could easily be a 9-7 final or something.

Frank doesn't care about the Cubs.

Go to sleep.

Eduardo Perez was on Waddle & Silvy earlier this week and said that.

I'll say it again, the wind blowing to left at 35mph hurts the Cubs more than helps. I'm aware that the Cubs have a ground ball pitcher going, but it's not like he never gives up some to the outfield. These winds help the less powerful team more than the powerful team that can hit them out regardless.

Doesn't guarantee an Indians win. Cubs can still blow them out, but I wouldn't want these winds, if given the choice, if I'm the Cubs.

Plus that wind blowing straight in the pitchers face has to affect his pitches as well. Especially somebody like the Cubs pitcher who relies on finesse pitches and location more than power and awesome stuff. That will be interesting to watch.

I dont see how this hurts the Cubs more than helps. The Indians pitcher gave up 36 homers on the season. The Cubs have a lineup that hit a lot of homers.

Sure Hendricks can very well still give up homers as well, but I will take my chances with a groundball pitcher vs. the Indian lineup and a fly ball pitcher vs the Cub lineup with the wind blowing out

I think it was Maddux that said he liked pitching with the wind blowing out because it gave him even more movement on his pitches.

It hurts more than helps, in theory, because the Cubs can hit them out without the wind cuz they have more power hitters. A home run by Rizzo might go 450 feet tomorrow where it would have been 400 on a no wind day. Still a home run either way. Where as some of the Indian hitters might hit a 370 foot HR to the alley where it would have been a lazy pop up to the out fielder with no wind.

But the Cubs can still mash and kill them anyway if they square more up than the Indians. They have better hitters than the Indians. They might just do that. I understand that. Just saying the wind helps the less powerful team more than the more powerful team. The Indians need luck more than the Cubs. And that wind provides luck.

You know better, Beardown. In a single game, the wind blowing out is equally likely to help one team as it is the other. IF you were talking about constant wind throughout an entire season, you might have a point. There's no telling what effect the wind will have tomorrow during a single game.

In theory you maybe correct, but I don't think you are taking into consideration the profile of both pitchers. Hendricks is one of the best ground ball pitchers and Tomlin is one of the best homerun pitchers.

That clearly affects things in a one game matchup.

If both pitchers were similar I would agree with you

I don't think the wind will affect the actual pitch to the plate as much as the result.

Can you envision a 35 mph gust from home to the mound in any scenario other than one that results in a multiple casualties?

Not just the home runs. We might get some other weird shit tomorrow.

Pop flys not being able to be caught cuz it's blown a mile away from the fielder. Who's it gonna effect? Cubs? Indians? Both? Who knows?

If some wind blown fly ball drops against the Cubs, scoring 2 runs with 2 outs to lose the game, we will now have a new curse.

"THE CURSE OF THE WIND".

Or better yet, "GONE WITH THE WIND" (Get it? Pretty good, right?)

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!

Baez will just put on his cape and fly to the ball...while unnecessarily bumping Rizzo in the process.

2016 Fastball Usage: Arrieta = 65%, Hendricks = 65%

2016 Breaking Ball Percentage (Curve + Slider): Arrieta = 12%, Hendricks = 7%

Looks like Hendricks is going to be a bad matchup for the Indians, they should have pounded Arrieta's curveballs when they had the chance.

I don't understand how Schwarber can run the bases n slide but can't get the okay to play Left field.

I'd like to see Cogz in right, he's got power and he's serviceable out there.

as a pitcher, you want the wind pushing against your best pitch.

If your best pitch is a fastball, you want the wind at your back. If your best pitch is a changeup, opposite. A wind that blows towards a lefthander will help with a screwball. A wind that blows towards a right handed hitter will help with a curve. Etc.

I'm not a know it all like some of the geniuses here, it seems strange that Jesse Rogers said around noon that " if you see Kyle shagging fly balls, he's cleared" that was a quote he got from Maddon when he got to the park yesterday.. He was indeed out there shagging fly balls, then 5 hours later I read he was not given the green light by the MD.

If you can run n slide, you can play defense IMO

I think he was actually medically cleared to play but the Cubs want to see if it is necessary to risk it. They are just using it as an excuse. If they lose the next two, he will be in game 5.

This World Series is not all about Kyle Schwarber. Let's not get caught up in the hype. The story is pretty cool...but the Cubs have played without him all year and made it to the World Series. He is just another piece to the puzzle. Let's Go Cubs!!

Do you think they should? I've been watching games throughout the playoff's....not just the Cubs...but throughout the playoff's they have been muting the sound / field mic's when I assume players & coaches are saying things that the networks don't like to broadcast and the FCC is not fond of. These are baseball players...and I'm pretty sure they've been saying these types of things for years and years. So with that in mind..

"Suck my dick" !!!!

I heard Dave Roberts let out a nice big "OH, FUCK YOU!" after the umps upheld a challenged play. They muted the audio right after. Close those barn doors nice and tight, Fox Sports 1.

For you anti Cub fans out there...Strat-O-matic predicts the Indians win tonight, 1-0.

http://www.cbssports.com/mlb/news/world ... bs-game-3/

Quote:
Heretofore the closest simulation of the series, Strat-O-Matic sees Game 3 coming down to the relievers. Namely, Andrew Miller tosses two clean frames for the Indians, while Aroldis Chapman yields the game's only run following a pair of wild pitches. Jason Kipnis does the honors of touching home plate.

I sure as hell hope they're way off base.

It's been covered and it's common knowledge by now but I'll just tell ya running forward as in baserunning puts different stresses on the knee than lateral movement. Apparently he isn't cleared for that type of running and I'm fine with it. Hell he's barely cleared to play left even before the injury. His terrible play resulted in the injury.
So be happy to have him as a dh in the away games and available as a pinch hitter in the home games.
