I don't get it? She said Beyonce gave her permission to do this.

I watched the video. If she was going for clever it wasn't, it was stupid. If she was going for funny it wasn't. So be offended by that. But other than that, why are people angry if Beyonce gave her permission?

Eff that. That's what they said about Bon Jovi--four years, no album. Then they single-handedly (which is a bad metaphor for a band of brothers, which is what they were) ushered in the 90s, culturally speaking.

Actually, I think Def Leppard took four years between albums, too. I guess they had an excuse, since their drummer lost an arm in a car accident. I had a dream once that he got into another car accident and lost his other arm but was still drumming, and for about a year, I thought this was actually the case.

God, I hated growing up in a neighborhood where people listened to hair metal....

Not totally related to what you ask, but once you seek permission to parody--or defend your parody by pointing to some prior arrangement--it is no longer funny & critical. It becomes ass-kissing. Sterile, without teeth. Why bother? What's the point, beyond self-deprecation? Celebrities kissing the asses of other celebrities: that's the most deadening, lifeless form of expression, completely self-interested and banal.

Amy Schumer was kind of funny on Last Comic Standing like 10 years ago. The problem is that she tried to go full SJW, when deep down, she probably thinks it's all bullshit.

I don't get Beyonce, but Snow Patrol did a fairly entertaining cover of Crazy in Love....that and the whole Thom Yorke/Single Ladies mashup video that kept me amused for like 10 minutes.
