(The Greek)

Patriots to score in both 1st and second quarter?

Yes -240

The Patriots have scored in the 1st and 2nd quarter of every game but two this year, against pass defenses much better than the Giants (Indy and last week against SD). Unbelievable value here.

Only way that doesn't happen is if the Giants have a 10 minute drive in one of those quarters. Especially if it's the 1st quarter because the Pats will have no incentive to get down the field fast. They have to hustle in the 2nd quarter if they get it back with limited time.

Yeah. That's a good bet.

It seems like even the games where teams have done a really good job of holding onto the ball for a long time in the beginning, the Patriots have still scored in both of the first quarters. Plus, unlike last week, weather will not be a factor in any way.

I dont like the value here. I can see the temptation but the Pats havent been the same team the last 8 weeks that they were the first 10. I like the Giants D against them better then most.

I was wondering if anyone knows any good games for Super Bowl party other than the squares bit. Been there and done that so want to have something new for the attendees this year? Any thoughts, i was thinking 20 prop bets put a 5 to get the sheet of bets and whoever does the best gets the pot? Maybe have a final score to determine tie breaker? Thoughts?

Women have to remove an article of clothing for every Patriot TD, men for every Giant TD.

Hmm...Interesting but we usually just go play strip flip cup. You get drunk and naked, it's just easier that way.

I thought that was the rub too, but they did it in all of those games except the SD game, and the weather/SD defense was an extenuating circumstance there.

The Giants D is predicated upon the pass rush. The Pats O-line is remarkable. I think they shut them down. But nevertheless, if they did it against the Jaguars and the Steelers and the Jets in that miserable windy game and the Giants last time, as well as just about every other game, I see no reason they won't do it again.

I was looking at placing 2 wagers.

1. Patriots $-450
2. Patriots to win by 12-16 points paying 5-1

Here are some from my prop sheet:

-Who will be the first QB named by Troy Aikman after kickoff?
*E. Manning
*T. Brady
*Any other QB

-How many times will Joe Buck mention Peyton Manning's name from kickoff to the end of the game?
*Over 5 1/2
*Under 5 1/2

-Will the Burger King be involved in a tackle during the game (including commercials)?

-Will Jessica Simpson appear during the game (including commercials)?

By the way the answer to the previous Tom Petty question is missing the correct answer as a choice: "American Girl" will be played last.

I'll add something for you guys to consider. In the history of the Super Bowl there have been 14 double figure point spreads.

The double digit favorites covered the spread 8 times with one push. (8-5-1 ATS)

3 times has a double digit dog won the SB outright. Most recently with the Patriots (14 point dogs) beating the Rams for Brady's first title. The Broncos (11.5 point dogs) beat the Packers for Elway's first ring. The other time was the Jets beating the Colts in Super Bowl III as 16 point dogs.

I think that part of what is contributing to the lower line is that the last couple of big favorites haven't covered and have even lost the game. But like Beardown said, that's not really par for the course. Of course, we're talking about really small sample sizes here.

Son of a bitch - wife is sick with the flu and party has been cancelled. She has bogarded the TV since Friday afternoon. once golf comes on at 3pm the surround sound is going on lights, chips, dips, beers. She can hit the bed I'm at least enjoying Super Bowl Sunday. Am i a bad husband for kicking her out?

**Update** She's taken another codine and sleeping on the couch. I just yelled from the FBR Open going into a playoff and she didn't move. Me, the TV and a drugged up wife, priceless.

Giants +13
under 54
first score (fg or safety) +175
no overtime
no safety
NE under 34 points
