When Pace was being interviewed, there were rumors that he had an edge over other candidates because he said he could work with Cutler (and therefore the Bears wouldn't have to eat Jay's salary). Don't know if that's true, but I wouldn't put it past Phillips or the McCaskeys to do something like that.
