Good evening. In less than an hour, Cubs fans from here will join others from around the world. And we will be launching the most important sports battle in the history of mankind, with the possible exception of when Screech boxed Horshack.

Cubs fans -- that phrase should have new meaning for all of us today.

We can't be consumed by our petty differences anymore.

We will be united in our common interests, even if those happen to be marrying horses or calling into radio shows with cringe-inducing thoughts.

Perhaps its fate that today is rainy, and we will once again be fighting against old demons that have dampened our baseball experience for over a century. Our battle is not against tyranny, oppression, or persecution -- but from the terrible trolling posts of Frank, America, or some other guy I forget (he always fucks up the quote function).

We're fighting for our right to live, to quote "2016" every time that know-it-all from Purdue says "2005."

And should we win the day, we will no longer be known as an American tragedy, but as the brave souls who endured the collective stereotype of other Cubs fans like Elmhurst Steve, Wayniestylie, Scooter, and JORR so that we could once relish this day.
