1. Most of a new bullpen except for Edwards, Grimm, and Zaz. [Montgomery goes to the rotation as the #5] K. Jansen to close, please.
2. A veteran pinch hitter to form the bench with Montero, Szczur, and whichever two rotation guys are not playing playing that day. Would be good if he can play 2B in an emergency so they don't have to keep Coughlin or LaStella, and should be somebody who is used to a bench role. If Ian Happ progresses, he will come up in August and take that role for a playoff run.
3. Possibly an upgrade over Szczur, although I'd like to revisit Javier Baez in CF as the other backup besides Heyward.

I expect that Soler, LaStella, Candelario, and a lot of pitchers get traded.

I'd also kick the tires on Jonathan Lucroy, but I think at 31 he is better suited to go to an AL team where he can DH 3x/week and catch 3x/week.

Zobrist allows them to protect the young guys (Russell, Baez, Contreras, Schwarber) against bad pitching matchups. He will play 4-5 days a week in that 2B/LF/SS/C mix, with Baez occasionally moving to SS/1B/3B and Schwarber occasionally moving to catcher. And if Heyward still can't hit lefties, then he also plays in a platoon in RF.

With Ross retiring, Zobrist becomes the calming greybeard in the clubhouse. Cant't trade him.

I am signing Jansen and bringing home Cashner unless I can swing a deal for a young pitcher with upside. You pretty much have to trade some guys like Soler and Zagunis. You need another catcher and I think old man Hannigan becomes rossy pt 2. He is a Joe guy already. I want Archer back still. I also think Monty will get a legit shot to start.

This is pretty awesome. There isn't much to do and you have the ability to make quite a few moves if you want. This is so unlike the Hawks who have to dump everyone after winning it all.
