... since I was 14 years old for a team I root for. That's pretty sad. I feel like I should be doing something, but I'm not sure what.

The day after we beat the Dodgers in the NLCS I was at the supermarket and I saw a dude with a Cubs hat on.

I walked up to him, pointed to the hat, then held up 4 fingers and said "4 more, this is the year"

We slapped a solid high five, and he said "Yep, this is the year."

I walked away and almost started crying, don't know why. Something I'll always remember from this post season run.

I can't imagine ever crying over a professional sports team winning a title, not even my beloved/dreaded 'Skins. I'm not that beta.

Well said.

I think I'll have a few moments like that that I will be able to reflect on shortly. NLCS Game 6 was special...but being out for several of these games was fun...yesterday morning I was getting gas at BP and a blue collar jabroni came up to me (as I was wearing my Cubs gear) and started talking to me about it. He didn't seem to be the most invested Cubs fan...but even though there are a lot of different levels of Cubs passion...a lot of people care in their own way and this was huge for MANY.

The atmosphere in the past month has been awesome.

I went to pick up a prescription one night with my Cubs hat on, and the head pharmacist yells "fill that guy's order now! He has to get home and watch the game!"

Just little things like that made it really cool. Also, couldn't have been at a better time with this terrible election going on.

Not since I was 14, but probably since I was 27.

Yeah, getting to watch a couple games with fellow board members was awesome. Those were really fun times, even when the Cubs lost.

Yeah, it's so much better if you're with even one other person....lots of male bonding (and, given that it's the Cubs, some male bondage). But those are good times.

I had a not so similar experience yesterday.

Saw an old guy sitting on his porch with his Cub shirt on. I said "One more tonight"....he pretty much gave me a harrumph followed up by "Yea.....we'll see". It was like looking at myself in 20 years.

I held the door for an old man (probably late 60s/early 70s) walking into the store today. He had the championship shirt and hat on already. I just said "can you believe this day?" He smiled and said "I truly never thought I'd see the day. I feel like a kid again". I told him to have a good day and I walked to the car with tears in my eyes. I seriously just can't wrap my head around it. It's a crazy day.
