I used to wait all night for bleacher seats with my brother every year in February or March, freezing in front of Cub Park with my brother. I went to keep him company and because it was fucking cool to stand in front of an MLB (well, Federal League) park. It was cool. We'd wait there all night until tickets went on sale in the morning. We'd go into that McDonald's to warm up.

He knew everyone else. They were largely blue-collar (when those jobs existed) people who had saved up some cash for tickets. Real cool people. Cubs fans for two and three generations.

Now the image in my mind of a Cubs fan is WayneStylie. Or Eddie Vedder. D-bag extraordinaires. I know not all of them are like that, but that's all I see on tv. I would love to hear from less d-baggy Cubs fans in the media. Or ones who don't bring up the "suffering" bullshit. WayneStylie ain't suffering. I don't think the media depicts the Cub fans base accurately.
