why is it snobby?

I sat next to a woman from Green Bay at the show I attended.

Musicals of this nature are the very opposite of snobby. They are populist entertainment. You want to see snobby? Go to a Theater Oobleck play.

I used to attend the Court Theater when I was first married. We were young so we could get away with underdressed look but that crowd was packed with turtlenecks and tweed jackets with elbow patches.

That's on the U of C campus, isn't it? I think they issue you a turtleneck and a tweed jacket once you cross 53rd Street. Isn't that right, Reader?

Jason just got a callback for Hamilton, so we need you to cover his shift.
Why didn't I get an audition for that? They're just prejudiced because I can't rap, or walk quickly in a circle.

When I first started hearing about this thing I was impressed. I really like the music and the creative approach they took to address the subject matter.

It's got a little Jesus Christ Superstar thing going on.

I'm also a sucker for a good musical or for some vintage screwball comedy.

That's the uniform alright, but don't forget the elbow patches, old loafers and yellowing teeth. Keep up the English pretensions and all.

They had a 60 Minutes segment when this first came out. It looked interesting right up to the point the discussion became about the "right" kinds of controversial statements. Now it seems to have morphed into little more than a populist statement/bona fide for the allegedly enlightened.

I recently saw a production of the Pinter play Betrayal. I started thinking about why a Chicago production would insist on maintaining the play's original setting and having actors use English accents. But of course such a thoroughly British story could not be moved, certainly not to America. If Jerry and Robert were Americans, it would have been a one act play with Jerry getting punched in the face or possibly murdered.

If they could turn La Boheme into Rent, losing the English accents there could work...and God forbid, possibly sell.

My parents had the album in the early seventies and I listened to it a lot growing up...It's my personal favorite.

It is excellent on a purely artistic level. Sit back with a bag of Twizzlers and enjoy some music and historical discussion for a few hours.

Hamilton features three incredibly hot women, including a former Miss America contestant and backups in the tightest of riding pants.

There are definitely some Atlanta brothers in the show but George Washington, straight as an arrow.

This was a pretty good musical, very accessible. It ended on a downer rather than with a big upbeat number, but I'm not sure how you could change that without bringing the guy back to life. And Jefferson was awesome.

Because we are a nation of morons who follow the Kardashian's every move, and would rather vote for American Idol than President.
