White student: These kind of people don't live in areas with easy access to DMVs or other places where they can get identification.

Ami: Do you think it's harder for black people to go online?
White student: Well, I don't feel they have the knowledge of, like, of how it works. For most of the communities they don't have the knowledge of what is out there, just because they're not aware. They're not informed.
White student: There's a repression of black voting. How they, how um, if you're a convicted felon, like, you're not allowed to vote and everything, and when you look at swing states like Florida, that's like, a huge population of the African Americans.

Ami: Do you know any black people who don't have ID?
Black woman: No. Why would they think we don't have ID?
Black man: Everybody I know have ID. That's one of the things you need to walk around with in New York.

Ami: Is it a weird thing to even say that?
Black woman: Yes, it is.

Ami: I also heard that black people can't figure out how to get to the DMV.
Black man: Huh? I know where it's at. It's on 125th street.

Ami: I also heard that black people, poor black people, can't figure out how to use the internet. Don't have access to the internet.
Black guy: [laughing] That's just...that's stupidity. Everyone has access to the internet. Even little kids can figure out how to access the internet.

Election day should be a national holiday. If voter ID is a thing than it should be free and easily attainable.

I voted by mail about two weeks ago. Ironically, several years ago a black woman told how easy it is to do through the Cook County Clerk's site and I have been doing it since.

Voter ID should be required. In election years, a state ID should be free at given times during the year.

If not a holiday, at the very least election day should be on a Sunday.

I actually did this year. 75 minutes in line at one of like 40 places you can vote early. Place was packed. I didn't think a Sunday would be that busy.

What days are they closed on? Is it the same days for everyone or just the minorities? Come on man.
Make Election day a national Holiday. Give everyone a free Id but only to citizens,no illegals and you fix so many problems.
And as to the oh poor people can't afford ID? B.S. Old people, free. Disabled,free. Homeless free.
It does not matter because if we do that then we will hear complaints that they can't afford $10 for a birth cert(you can get it by mail no need to waste time going getting it)

Adding another national holiday? No thanks, not interested in paying government employees for yet another day of no work. Either do it on a sunday or use an existing federal holiday for election day. President's Day sounds about right.

The Democrats are known for their election fraud and voter ID would be a way to stop their fraud. So that's why they oppose it. In my mind if you're not capable of getting an ID, why should you be allowed to vote? When it comes to IDs people are much smarter than the politicians are giving them credit for.

They tried to in North Carolina. The voter suppression laws were struck down in a Federal Appeals Court, but the good folks in North Carolina said "Fuck you, we aren't complying with this ruling".

This wasn't just some op-ed in Vox or Slate. This shit is happening.

The NC law stated you needed to have a Photo Id, no prereg of 18 year old and reducing early voting days. Where is there anything about closing where you get an ID?

I have been posting stories about this for months. Not just in North Carolina, but other places as well. They are closing polling places and buildings which issue IDs in certain areas. They are suppressing the vote of black voters with surgical precision.

I have led the horse to water. It's up to you to drink.
