It seems like "more people should vote" is a pretty universally held opinion. I disagree. It's like owning a gun or deciding to have kids. Everyone should have a right to do it, and I hope MANY don't exercise that right.

I think the goal is to get more people educated and involved in the process.

That's a good goal. Just simply saying "go vote", which seems like what the majority just settle with saying, doesn't do any good and may do more harm than good.

100% with you. To have a high voter turnout for the sake of turnout does nothing for the country. Why would I want idiots randomly voting for people based on TV ads or who their favorite celebrity tweeted about? What people really should want is educated voters turning out to vote.

To some degree, you need a percentage of eligible voters to vote just to lend legitimacy to the whole affair -- if we elected the president based on 2.5 million total votes, you could have an uprising saying that was unfair (even though it was really completely fair.)

That's a good point I hadn't considered.

Simply saying "go vote" is based on the idea that high raw turnout helps Democrats, without the partisan stink of saying "go vote for the Democrats." That's all.

If Trump wins with 60M votes we may still have an uprising. And people saying it is unfair as well.

Only natural considering how she's routinely insinuated that the process is rigged against her. Still can't get over that one time on national TV where she unequivocally declined to pledge to accept the results of election. So yeah I can definitely see her base revolting based on her conduct throughout the campaign. Good call.

Hillary can't even get into a car on her own, yet somehow she will start an uprising.

We should be able to pay to vote faster like an express pass at an amusement park.

I encourage all black people to vote, for the simple fact that we were not always allowed to vote and people fought for our right to.

Now that the Cubs have won the World Series, my next wish before I die is to be able to cast a vote for President without having to move to Florida, Ohio, or Pennsylvania.

Were you too young to vote for Reagan or HW? Illinois was red not long ago.
