It would have been a cult classic if they took this directly to DVD.

It really was not even a movie.

Finally saw it... perhaps my expectations were rock bottom low, but I kinda liked it. Keep in mind, I enjoyed 28 days later, which many didn't like either.

Side note:After living through 9-11, I was more than a little disturbed by the sequence of events at beginning. The smoke and dust was almost too realistic... brought up some bad memories for me.

Late to the party, but I just watched this...very entertaining, with a lot of moments that had me yelling "holy shit"...the monster wasn't all that great, but those little fuckers were something else...of course, I have a feeling whoever created the monster has played Final Fantasy X before...

REALLY late to the party, but I watched this movie today b/c the Villanova game was over five minutes in and here's one of the problems I had with the movie: There was not one character in the movie I wanted to survive. Every character was annoying and making bad choices that did not make sense. When emo boy decided to go find the love of his life, I though fuck it - I hope the monster kills them all.

It was still more watchable than any of the first 2 sets of games.

Wow, you know there are other things you can do with your afternoon, Pyscory. :)

In this neck of the woods, there really isn't anything to do  ... but actually I was home alone with my daughter and she was napping so I was going to watch basketball.

Yeah, you "think" you liked it, but you didn't.

I'm shocked. It seemed like I liked it at the time.

What did you like about it? The seizure-inducing camera? The lack of any real plot as to what the hell the damned thing was? The lack of real closure to the movie?

I enjoyed the chaos of it. I don't need a movie to wrap up into a neat little package at the end. I liked the ambiguity. It was refreshing. The camera didn't bother me at all.

Eh. Just didn't do it for me. Then again, I liked the Resident Evil movies. I've been waiting five movies for the plot.

I kinda liked those too. Sometimes I watch atuff like that to just get lost in something that's not going to make sense. Life doesn't ever have closure. Why should movies?

For the record I didn't like blair witch. I did like munger road.

My dislike of Blair Witch likely skewed any chance of liking Cloverfield. I just remember getting to the end of the movie and thinking, what the hell did I just watch? There has to be more, right? And there wasn't.

Totally. It was a giant build up to.... Nothing. That dude standing strangely and a thump and the camera falls? Boo. There was a ton of promise but the end just sucked huge. Kinda similar actually to the end of cloverfield but you don't get left out in the cold never having seen what was stalking them.

Sorry, Yahoo Babelfish didn't have a sane person translation option. They did have Hmong Daw:

koj xav tias koj nyiam nws vim hais tias koj nco tsis tau ib yam dab tsi uas xyoo ib nrab ntawm tus fucking caum dhau los saib koj horsemouth

I think he is talking about gangnam style or something.

Thanks. That cleared that up significantly.

For the record, I watched this today for the first time.

Cloverfield or Gangnam Style?

Both. Also, prepared for a final. I was glad to have the extra hour.

I got this movie for free from Netflix because they sent me two copies of it in the envelope years ago. Worst free movie ever.
