So much fun on Facebook already. Liberal friends who honestly believe that anybody who doesn't vote the way they do are the dregs of society. People in professional positions talking seriously about having to call in sick tomorrow because they won't be able to function while they process how horrible our country is.

It seems they don't understand that it's elitism like their own that causes many of these people to vote for someone like Trump.

I have to admit, I have plenty of elitist tendencies myself, but I'm not ignorant enough to constantly put them on display. And I do find it offensive that many of these people simply dismiss "uneducated white voters" as if they are some class of sub-humans who should not be allowed to vote.

And the losers are trying to paint this narrative wherein "America voted against women and minorities and for racism and hate" when the truth is America voted against an utterly corrupt career politician.

I'm looking for the numbers but they just said on television that more non-whites voted this year than in 2012 but a lower percentage voted for Hillary.

And they substituted her for a much more corrupt, xenophobic, racist businessman. Make no mistake this is a disaster for this country. Spin it however you want there was nothing which suggests this dude should be President.

People ignored who this guy was and those that didn't defended him. He is a divisive dude with a divisive history that ran a divisive campaign.

I got this one completely wrong and I own it. Anyone and I mean anyone that believes this is a "win" because the crooked bitch didn't win is in for a rude awakening.

Let's get this party started.

It's not a "disaster" for the country. What do you think is going to happen that is disastrous? He'll appoint a Supreme Court justice that will likely line the Court back up the way it has been.

I don't think it's a "win", but it wouldn't have been a "win" if the Clintons has had another four years in the White House either. It was a bad choice. People went for the unknown quantity. A lot of them believed things couldn't get worse. I didn't feel that way, but I'm not struggling to make my rent.

The same media that has gotten everything wrong in this entire election cycle is now going to tell us all the terrible things that are going to happen.

It's not the media. This isn't media spin. Check the dude's history. Listen to people that really know him. People that have dealt with him. This dude is fucked up and I know the vote is supposed to be validation of something but the vote also put Bush in twice. This isn't partisanship bullshit because there are plenty of Republicans that don't generate this type of vitriol.

This is the dude that tweets at 3 in the morning whenever someone tiles him up. Calls News shows when he hears something he doesn't like. Does anyone thinks this shit stops because he was elected President?

This is the guy that orchestrated a terrible convention and also ran a bad campaign. Look at the choices he made regarding campaign manager. He had 3 of them after all and one is being investigated as we speak.

It's not the end of the world life will go on but it will be 4 more wasted years. There is no way that he will work with Congress. It's not in his DNA.

Think I read yesterday where he is ready to make Giuliani Gingrich and Priebus part of his Administration. How does that signify change?

That economic advisory team of his are the same group of people that led the Free Trade movement that everyone keeps bashing. The exact same group. Wait til working class whites discover that little nugget.

Policy was never part of the campaign and now it can't be avoided. Watchout world.

One of my ex-girlfriends is going on about "how other countries see us". As if the United States was some paragon of worldwide respect prior to Trump being elected.

It's funny how so many of the same people who cheered Obama's "re-set" with Russia vilify Trump for suggesting we might attempt to improve relations with Putin.

I'm certainly not happy with President Trump (I actually find it difficult to believe that it has happened), but most of the complaints and whining are nothing more than partisan bullshit. And voting against the horrible Hillary Clinton does not mean a person "hates women".

This again. The "American politician" as well as their followers will have to learn that just hammering race and division is not going to work anymore.

On the bus in this morning I felt terrible for a young girl. She was clearly a student of some young age and probably hoped and worked her ass off for HRC. She was sobbing uncontrollably as she looked at her phone. Other HRC supporters that are blind as well as arrogant I do not feel sorry for at all.

The spin on this whole thing is just lovely. The person hammering race and division was Trump himself. From the very beginning Wall, Islamic ban, blacks, he promoted division and race baited.

I know that Hillary Clinton will be brought up in any retort but for once make it about Trump.

He bashed entire races and ethnicities. It's no accident that White Supremacist groups supported him.

This notion that this is a creation of the media is the same sort of deflection that occurred throughout the primary.

Many Republicans were also appalled by him too. This needs to stop. He brought this into the campaign. He started it with the birther movement and he carried it through the end of the election.

If you and other people want to celebrate his election feel free. Let's not spin this as if others are misreading what he lays bare for all to see. It's incredibly insulting to continue doing so.

I agree and Putin is a smart motherfucker. You'd probably have to go back to Nixon to find a U.S. president as smart as Putin. Having other countries "like us" isn't some be all end all.

In 1972,I campaigned for Nixon. Handing out pamphlets as a young teen. He got a raw deal.

LTG, I am speaking about identity politics in general and not either of the current competitors. Regardless of what people believe about Dems or Reps the idea that everything can be bunched up neatly into White, Black, Hispanic, Male and Female is over.

No its not it's just beginning. If you think that Trump didn't play identity politics PM I don't know what to say. His "Make America Great again" was a play for identity style politics. Listen to his statements throughout the campaign. This was identity politics on steroids.

This is not the end of anything and the notion of post racial America (always a fallacy) is over.

Is it not accurate though?

More people felt stronger about keeping a corrupt politician out of office than maintaining rights for women, minorities, and LGBTs?

A corrupt politician? Well clutch my pearls....!

They had no problem sending a majority of the incumbents back to DC.

He absolutely played identity politics.
