I think a lot of them voted for him because they liked Mike Pence. Also a lot of people see through the left-wingers who suddenly got "morality" when they became morally opposed to Trump. Of course morality doesn't matter when it is applied to a president who committed adultery in the oval office or to his wife who took bribes and used a private e-mail server with classified information.

The politics of the left is essentially if you can call a Republican a name then you can dismiss everything he says. The reason why Christian people support him is that he has a Christian running mate and they believe he is their only chance to stop Hillary Clinton from driving the country off the cliff. Between her and Bill Clinton she is worse than Trump on just about every issue.

The vast majority of Evangelical Christians do not hate gays. Some of the things you said sound like that political ad they were running on the Score. When people who don't subscribe to a system of morality become "morally offended" by a candidate the whole thing is rather hollow.

On a serious note, reading autopsies of the Clinton campaign have made me understand the Trump appeal more than I did previously. That being said, I still think he's the wrong guy for a job that's been rightly identified.

I didn't say they did, but there are MANY. To deny that is just foolish, but anything is possible from you. You said they gravitated to Trump because of Pence, who doesn't exactly like the gays.

It's like David Cross' stand up bit, when talking about the good folks from the very progressive state of Mississippi. "I'm not a racist...but the people for whom I vote to represent me are."
