day late and a dollar short mfers

impassioned protests for the past two years regarding everything but when there is some very simple and tangible way to make an impact, enough cannot be bothered to show

the day after though, THAT is the time for indignation

Perfect description of the millenial

Then they were fools.

Everyone wants to define this election as "angry white voter" when it is just as much about the apathetic Obama voter. Show to the polls and Clinton wins, simple as that. We all knew what the stakes were. You don't take a win for granted.

I was in on the angry white voter angle but lack of support for candidate Clinton is a big part of it. "Force fed candidate" is a pretty good description.

Generally agree. I believe that it was the apathetic Bernie voter. Early in the primary process MANY of these voters said that they would vote for Hillary. By the end of the process they were saying that they would vote for Trump or not vote. Despite the population increase 7 million fewer people voted for Hillary than Obama. Historically low turnout favors Republicans.

I'm using "Obama voter" only because a better description hasn't been created yet and I want to analogize it to "Reagan Democrats". There were people from the day Bernie conceded who appeared very comfortable with cutting off their noses to spite their faces.

You got what you wanted.

Spend your time registering voters for 2019 in those key districts rather than this entirely futile and illogical marching.

Lots of apathetic Bernie voters had to make a tough call on a pathetic candidate.

I was in on the ground floor of this. The entire her turn and other things that made it seem like some sort of coronation really bugged me. It had to bother some idealistic Democrats as well. Unfortunately, for them no one stepped up to challenge or beat her besides Bernie. And Bernie was a little too late.

They weren't listening to Hillary and Bernie didn't do much to bring them over. In the final days he wasn't on the campaign trail so that should tell you how helpful he was. They need to live with the results of the election.

I don't know how many times in the past 2 days I've heard that the country is "suddenly divided".

It's been divided. That's the whole point.

LOL! You're gonna pin this loss on Bernie and his supporters?!?

That's hilarious.

A majority of white women voted for the "misogynist" Trump over the "feminist" Hillary.

Close to 30% of Hispanics voted for a guy who demonized their ethnic group throughout the campaign.

Black turnout dropped substantially from the Obama years--even following a campaign where white nationalists openly supported Trump's candidacy.

The fact that you continue to attack the Sanders constituency reflects your biases, but this prejudice doesn't account for the broad voting dynamics in this election.

According to Clinton surrogates AND Sanders staffers, Bernie wanted to campaign more for Hillary, but Clinton officials didn't think they needed him, so they stopped scheduling him for events.

She was a terrible candidate ! That's why people stayed home or didn't want to vote for her. Why is this so hard for people to grasp ????

Stop blaming people who voted for a 3rd party candidate. It's lazy. Blame the DNC and the party itself for this horseshit candidate. Trump won???? These are the consequences for pre-determining Hillary would be the only option. THE BLAME LIES INWARD !!! And guess what.....unless they find someone who doesn't have a scandal following him/her around every other week, they Repubs will continue to win.

All-time finger pointing over her loss. Maybe that's the major problem.

THAT DAMN BERNIE !!!! WHY DIDN'T HE HELP US MORE????

The other point to remember is that the leaked Clinton/Podesta emails show that the Clinton campaign ACTIVELY tried to elevate the candidacy of Trump and other "lunatic fringe" candidates because they preffered to run against them over Bush or Rubio.

In other words, the Clintons helped amplify the very racist and misogynist rhetoric they claimed to oppose. How deplorable.

Trump got the same number of votes as Romney but Hillary got 7 million fewer than Obama. It's not unreasonable to speculate that MANY were Bernie Sanders supporters.

Maybe. But your speculation is TRUMPED by the fact that Clinton underperformed among her key constituencies.

No. The problem is not the candidate. The problem is people who didn't blindly throw their support behind a bad candidate.

Agreed. And so do the Dem leaders who thought Hillary was a good idea.
