Yeah, Dan, you can't hang up on them now.

Let's hope he's pulled it together enough today to complete the show and not call anyone a Nazi, except the Nazis.

Dr. Ken did you see some asshole in San Fran put up a Nazi flag as some sort of Anti-Trump stance?

I feel like this a current events reference that I am unaware of.

If I have insulted Jews again, somebody find my old college roommate and have him kick my ass.

Tell him to bring his hairband video girlfriend, let's see how she's held up.

hey dr ken, thanks for making a "proper" 11/10 showthread in the wake of beardown going out of his way to make sure that he could jump on a "hot topic" and try to make it "a hot beardown thread" -- i like beardown for what he is, but not when he's that transparent tbh.

speaking of "that transparent" i just saw this picture pop up and i had to share it here, as i think this has gotta be how dan sees "pepe the frog" ...

Image

(and yes, i know the very fact that this image exists (as [a sick?] joke) does lend credence to the general idea that bernstein's going with, but at the same time it's totally "chicken and the egg" here: did the media stories saying that pepe is racist happen because of pictures like this, or do pictures like this exist because of the media stories saying that pepe is racist [and "trolls" are like 'well since gamergate taught us the media is gonna run with their talking point no matter what right wrong or otherwise; "we" might as well have some [innocuous] "fun" with it" ?? )

i tell you what, if "the revolution" ever forces you to fall back into an area where i happen to be (most likely the only way i'd ever meet you IRL) then i owe you a beer for this one =P

(and speaking of "the revolution" hmmm.... i wonder if it's worthy of it's own thread? this one is good)

wow dan plugging some new hashtag movement ("for" politically aware and/or active [read: weaponized] kids) called #KidsLettersToTrump??

damn, i guess people really wanna try and hide behind their kids to try and seem that much more sacrosanct and righteous in their fundamental "opposition" to "everything that Trump stands for" huh?

i shouldn't be that surprised cuz really, since this whole election process was chock full of emotional appeals > all else, now people wanna try and use their kids to "weaponize" or "trump up" (if you will ;) their post-election emotional appeals by essentially doing the same thing as using women and children as a human shield in a combat zone. you know, nobody will ever call an 8 year old kid maudlin or misinformed/ignorant/[pejorative]" because they're kids (FFS) and they're supposed to not understand or have trouble understanding [grown up things], so that will allow "the message" to get out there with some kind of a built-in shield/buffer around it to keep it from some/most criticism via "moral high ground"

which, at least for me, has me ?ing "the message" if it's gotta be packaged up and disseminated in such a way where it's designed to be accepted/taken-seriously by its very nature ("somebody's gotta think about the children!")

he's using the kid to give more credibility to his message, since everyone thinks of children's thoughts as being "pure" and unadulterated

ok, so when an athlete/coach/sports-dude says something that dan+pals don't like, they're supposed to "know better" and ideally "stick to [their sport]" or whatever they do because we don't "need" their input on things we don't associate with them (because these things are outside of their area/s of expertise, so they're best left to REALLY. SMART. PEOPLE. [on the right side of history/the-debate/etc, of course] ).

but when nick saban [or whoever @ alabama] claims that they didn't even know that there was an election going on the other day because they're so focused on football [roll damn tide!], you obviously make fun of him all "yeah right" and "how can you pretend to be 100.0% football when such an important thing is going on?!" because i guess you're supposed to have thoughts and opinions on REALLY. IMPORTANT. THINGS. even when they're outside of areas of their expertise?

man, one of these shows should have a segment where people call up to point out hypocrisy because i reckon that'd be a hit!

exactly! the difference here is that, unlike me, you're into "that whole brevity thing" that the dude mentioned, duderino! =P

edit: also, i wanna point the fundamental irony of people who are currently blaming "white women voting for trump" on the influence of the patriarchy" (read: white males) with votes-for-trump essentially being akin to a battered wife "brainwashed" into talking up her abusive husband.... and then they turn around [coach up] and have their kids, literally the people who are the most likely to directly act off of the influence of others, go and send trump a bunch of >MUH FEELINGS letters which we're all supposed to take seriously because of the reasons that bagels said?! man, banging the irony gong here would make a sound akin to dropping a pin, you know what i'm saying?

like i'm saying over and over again as the day rolls on, man, i really shouldn't be surprised about any of this.

Welp. Looks like Jay Cutler is a big Trump supporter.

Junior Bernstein better start writing a few more letters.

Wait, what? Dan told his kid yesterday that there is a possibility that Donald trump will round up the Jews. Why would he then tell his kid to write a letter to the guy that's gonna round him up?

Unless it's simply, "Dear Mr. President, please don't round me up and kill me. Thanks. Yours Truly, Jason Bernstein."

That would make sense.

And btw, that was the guy after COF....although some would argue that his calls are bad, too.

I said the Cubs roster as presently constituted was largely built not thru the draft but thru trades and FA. This was greeted with a long silence. Maybe my cell phone was cutting out.

And no, I like numbers in baseball.

I tapped out....the best part of the show was the guy saying numbers needed to get out of baseball...otherwise it was Dan and Matt circle jerking over Cubs and WAR stats.

dan just came out in 100% total support of the "soda tax" saying, among other things, that taxing "sugarwater" isn't a class thing...

...clearly dan wasn't around during feudal times when being fat was often a sign of wealth, prominence, or even possibly royalty because peasants literally couldn't afford to be fat, so they could only dream about being that awesome. ergo, it's another "bernstein pisses all over tradition" episode of b&b where dan cheers on the gatekeepers trying to keep the riff raff from being able to ostentatiously display any and all inherent plenitude =P
