Never seen more white people tell other white people what something means for black people.
Because you may not know any blacks.
Seriously, I see the latest social media meme is "White men- stop telling minorities and women 'everything will be all right.'"
It seems to me that aggressive and rude response to a friend comforting you because of your overwrought and hysterical reaction to an election result is exactly the kind of thing that- at least to some degree- may have caused the election results to go the way they did in the first place. Maybe it would be best if people stopped trying to put themselves in special categories and giving orders to others as to what they can and can't say.
I'd say it's quite clear the election results were a definite pushback against what you're describing
I think in part, for sure. That "pushback" is not a great thing, pretty fucking childish, in fact, but it is what it is. If everybody else is going to live their lives and vote according to their identity, you shouldn't really be angry if the majority eventually does the same. Beating up white men will no doubt be a more viable political strategy in about 2050 when they are a definite minority.
One of the other stories I read in the
Tribune today was about a kindergarten teacher who was clearly distraught over the election of Trump. She was another one who views Hillary Clinton as the avatar or womanhood instead of the corrupt career politician she actually is. Anyway, she held a mock election in her class between fictional characters. I guess there's a book with some girl named Grace who wants to be president. The story talked about a little boy who voted for Grace because he "thought she was the better candidate." It was obviously supposed to be heartwarming, but I found it heartbreaking. The poor kid knew he was supposed to vote for the girl for no other reason that she was a girl. He knew what was going to make his teacher happy. It's really sad. And not at all what I'd call equality. Do you want to earn it on merit or just because you have a vagina?
One of the things I keep reading is some version of "if someone as awesome, competent, and great as Hillary can lose to Trump, how can any women ever win?" And it's just a false premise. There is nothing awesome, great, or even particularly competent about Hillary Clinton. Yes, I and MANY others would have preferred her to Trump, but it's not like a person was insane for not wanting Clinton near the White House. She is seriously flawed.
