He's basically the conservative George Takei. Very good at social media.

Mike Rowe did musicals in high school and almost got the Daily Show from Craig Kilborn but sure I totally buy him as America's shop teacher.

His take on the election results seems pretty good.

I like him. He argues rather successfully that Americans denigrate vocational training and the careers that come out of it, and that spending $120k to send not too book smart little Buffy to college to be an International Affairs major is a waste when you can get her set up as a welder instead. He really means that liberal elite Americans do the denigrating, but he's smart enough to blame everybody. He is good at telling a story, and he's found a good source of stories to tell.

White women in their 40s+ seem to find him attractive.

Plus, he promoted to Bangor Maine Police Department facebook page, which is a fun read.

A lot of what he is talking about is what are you getting for your education... if you want to put 90k into a college with a degree in history, that's great, but that's not going to get you a good job. He's 100% behind paying money to learn a craft where there is a need in the world... he does not focus on STEM, but focuses on things he has worked on... and he is right for quite a lot of people. You can make 100k a year as a plumber, and there's nothing wrong with being a plumber. God knows I pay my plumber enough. He's against this dream world where you pay 180k for 4 years to learn marine biology and then you can't get a job because there are only 5 marine biology jobs opening every year.

If the Marine Biologist thing doesn't work out, one could always become an architect.

GEORGE: Besides, Steven Koren has the highest of aspirations. He wants to be an architect.

WYCK: Is that right?

STEVEN: Actually, maybe I could set my sights a little bit higher.

GEORGE: Steven, nothing is higher than an architect.

STEVEN: I think I'd really like to be a city planner. Why limit myself to just one building, when I can design a whole city?

WYCK: Well, that's a good point.

GEORGE: No, it's not.

STEVEN: Well, isn't an architect just an art school drop-out with a tilty desk, and a big ruler?

GEORGE: It's called a T-square.

WYCK: You know, the stupidest guy in my fraternity became an architect - after he flunked out of dental school! Congratulations, young man.

STEVEN: Thank you.

WYCK: Susan would be proud of what you're doing.

STEVEN: Thank you.

I think about a year ago, he pointed out we needed more skilled laborers in the Dakotas/Montana area.
