For a pretentious arthouse horror film, it's effective.
The most obvious metaphor...it's an STD.
I'd like to think of it as an allegory for regret and guilt. Especially for sexual assault, REAL sexual assault, that women go through. A lot of lines that revolve around "Do you believe me?", etc. Credibility. The kind of fine line that is walked delicately and gracefully. It's done well.
For those who don't know the plot--girl has sex with guy. Some kind of curse is passed along. if she has sex with someone else, it's passed along. It follows, get it?
Yes, has some creepy moments. But overall, it's an unsettling film, it doesn't have a satisfying end. But it's satisfying.
