If I'm the White Sox I'd do it in a second. I don't think the Cubs would ever do that though.

Yeah the Sox would be crazy not to take that.

Cubs would never offer it though.

I could see them making that offer if they plan on keeping Fowler and don't believe Hendricks is this good.

Hendricks is this good, though. And he's unique.

Putting this out there as just an idea or putting this out there because it is a rumor they have heard?

A caller proposed the trade.

I cannot see the Cubs doing that deal.

But I would love to know if the Cubs talk to the Sox about Sale and what kind of deal they would be willing to offer.

I have been completely against trading Schwarber. But if you could get Sale I would help Schwarbs pack

Cubs would be nuts to do the deal as proposed. Lackey isn't getting any younger (or better) and Arrieta isn't getting any cheaper. Why would you trade away the one pitcher who you still have some control of on the cheap only to find yourself having to get even more pitching in a year or two and probably paying through the nose for it?

Sale for Schwarber straight up. Sox would never do it because they could get more. That is all I would offer if I am the Cubs.

i dont think cubs win the ws without the schwarb factor though. they barely won it. and he injected hope on more than a few key situations in the series.

not only that, take a look how long starting pitchers went for the cubs throughout the series. chris sale doesn't help you much there.

Funny thing is last year MANY would have said the Sox would be crazy to take a deal like that.

Thats on Maddon overusing the bullpen. Ventura did the same thing, but more often than not even he let Sale go deep into games.

Chris Sale lead the AL with 6 CG. I have no idea what Zack is saying.

because like Frank mentioned, Maddon didn't use his starters to their full potential. he would've pulled sale way before he needed to.

it wouldn't have made that much of a difference. not enough for a trade like that.

No.

FWIW...Levine said the Cubs, at the AS break, contacted the Sox about trades. Sox said no thanks.

The Sox ulimately said no thanks to everyone who contacted them at the break. That really means nothing in the offseason

That would be a good trade for the Sox, but not for the Cubs. For a team that has been talking the talk about wanting "good clubhouse guys" I can't see them picking up Sale. In my opinion Sale's delivery always looks like something is going to go wrong with his arm.

Chicago callers kept on calling MLB Radio today with trade ideas to get Mike Trout. ex-WSCR/WGN guy Jim Memolo was on (he's actually good there) with another guy, and they were just laughing at all the callers. (To be fair, Met fans had equally stupid trade ideas to address their team's needs.)

The question is, which team has to add more to this deal:
Mike Trout for
Jake not from State Farm, Schwarber, Soler, Dewes, and whoever the hell was the Myrtle Beach #2 starter last year.

Jake becomes a rental for them, and if he doesn't get injured they either give him a QO and get a late first round comp pick, or more likely they trade him at the deadline for a couple of major league ready pieces.

Almora and Sczuzr become the 4th/5th OF and via Zobrist and Baez give everybody else a day off.

But I still don't think that's enough for the Angels.

I would never trade with Theo no matter what team I was. The track record is people who trade with him look dumb.

The Yankees may be the only one who get away with it.
