Love that movie. I know it sucks.

Still great, though.

I've never seen it. Does it begin with the Cubs winning the WS and end with the election of Beezlebub?

Affleck recalls that he asked Bay, "Why is it easier to train oil drillers to become astronauts than to train astronauts to become oil drillers?"

He told me to shut the f--- up. So that was the end of that talk. He was like, 'You know, Ben. Just shut up, okay? This is the real [NASA] plan, alright?' I was like, 'You mean it's a real plan at NASA to train oil drillers?' He was like, 'Just shut your mouth!'

...Bruce is gonna tell the guys that they did a bad job at building the drill tank, because he's a salt-of-the-earth guy and the NASA 'nerdanauts' don't understand his salt-of-the-earth ways, his rough-and-tumble ways. Like somehow they can build rocket ships but they don't understand what makes a good [transmission].

Eight whole months? As if that's not enough time to learn how to drill a hole. But in one week we're gonna learn how to be astronauts.

...'They don't know jack about drilling'? How hard can it be? Aim the drill at the ground and turn it on!

I loved Buscemi ("we're in a rocket with 2 million parts built by the lowest bidder...what could go wrong?").

I think the movie was well-made for what it was and showed how talented JJ Abrams is.

Also, it's funny how this was an example of movies coming out in pairs due to the topic du jour (Deep Impact was the other movie that year with basically the same theme.)

not really; he was 1 of 9 screenwriters who worked on it, and 1 of 3 who were credited. which doesn't really mean anything. and it was pretty evident that they stole the material from bruce joel robin, who wrote "deep impact". so it wasn't really a coincidence. disney wanted to counter the movie with their own.

what really showed abrams' talent was the soundtrack to "nightbeast" which composed at the age of 16.

The movie was bad, and possibly fun bad. It did have a few decent lines. Watching it once was enough....

Now I caught the end of Bad Santa last night. Most enjoyable.

Absolutely terrible movie...I'm not even sure it's fun bad...like a John Wu movie possibly. I'm more than willing to suspend my disbelief for a decent plot and a well written movie...Armageddon is simply awful.

Real men watch Con Air for a fun bad movie. Not Poopygeddon.

the Simpson/Bruckheimer films were a treat. "Days of Thunder", "The Rock", "Top Gun", "Crimson Tide", were all great popcorn spectacles.

the 80's were great for cheeseball, hilarious action flicks. "Deathwish 2", "Roadhouse", "Commando", "Cobra", "Murphy's Law". Pretty much any Cannon film really.
