They'll probably give Tilson the first crack if they don't get a guy from outside.

They could go after Rajai Davis. Personally, I'd try and acquire Szuzur from the Cubs for a couple of young pitchers which don't have to go on the 40-man.

Who else is playing that might be on Kennys wish list? Griffey's ghost? Ichiro?

It's been rumored that Cespedes will be opting out of his contract with the Mets. I'm going to assume wants to stay in NY and is using it to get more money out of them. He would fit with the Sox. However, this year signing him requires losing a draft pick.

I still think the better move is Fowler if the Cubs don't offer.

Well, both are available. But signing either would only serve to make the team better, but not good enough to contend. Better to trade away better players and get rid of high salaries and build with youth. The only problem with that, is the Sox have not shown a great ability to identify and develop talent, except for starting pitching.

Hahn was on the score for 10 minutes and didn't say a god damn thing. Nothing but lawyer talk. It doesn't give you the warm and fuzzies when the GM is so guarded with his words and scared to death of saying anything of consequence.

I dont know, he purged all reference to the Sox out of his social media stuff. My guess is non-tender, he just cannot stay on the field.

How do you "dangle" Frazier and non tender Lawrie?

It seems pretty important to me to have a backup infielder who can play all positions, which is what Saladino can remain if they keep Lawrie.

But if (when) Lawrie gets hurt, then Saladino becomes an everyday player.

Yes, that is typically what happens.

He has done a nice job in that situation the last two years.

I think it would be a waste not to bring Lawrie back in his last controlled year.

If Lawrie has a good first half (which he could easily have) his utilty as a 3B and 2B would have deadline value, and really unless the Sox manage to pry some stud like Moncada or Bregman in an offseason trade there is nobody really in Lawrie's way to get 1st half playing time. So I'm guessing there's a serious injury problem there if they do wind up cutting bait. Lawrie is not a bad player when healthy.

Also, trading Robertson and/or Jones in the offseason is a mistake. If Robertson has a hot start to the season he'll command a bounty in July. Think something just like the Ken Giles, Aroldis Chapman, Andrew Miller hauls...the risk of course being Robertson sucking more and being worthless but the opportunity is too great.

If David Robertson puts up a sub-2.00 ERA and converts all his saves (he has had stretches better than that in his career) he will be extremely valuable at the deadline. I mean, Robertson is only a month older than Andrew Miller so its not like age will derail his value.

He just needs to do it, which he probably wont.

Its really not controversial to say Robertson is capable of being dominant. He's been dominant before.
Its really not controversial to say a top tier closer will get a massive haul at the deadline, because its happened for the last few seasons.

If you think the Sox are getting a haul like what the Indians gave up for Miller then there is nothing any of us can do for you

Well he has to be put up some serious numbers to get to that level, but I fully expect him to be lights out now that the team isn't expecting to win. If he puts up stud reliever numbers there's no reason he doesn't get at least a Ken Giles level return, if not more.

Now he gets a fringe-y prospect at best, maybe a little more from a desperate team like the Giants. So I think its better to hold him and see where he's at in July.

Was part of the reason for the haul is that Miller is signed for a couple more years?

And we don't know if part of Hahn's plan is shedding salary. IF he is trading Sale/Flavor Fraz, is he looking to trade Quintana?

He'll probably looking into trading Quintana and Eaton if the price is right.

Hahn hired Drew Carey!?!

If Hahn is trading Sale, you have to trade these 2.

One general manager says that Jose Quintana’s name didn’t come up in talks with the White Sox, leading the GM “to believe they’d like to hold on to him. [Chris] Sale was mentioned, [Carlos] Rodon was mentioned and all the others, but not Quintana.” Reports have the White Sox ready to listen on any player who isn’t under long-term control, though Quintana technically doesn’t fit this description. He is under contract through 2019 with a club option for 2020, and given how Quintana has pitched during his career, that early-career extension has become a bargain for the Sox. Rodon’s inclusion is interesting, as the highly-touted lefty can’t hit free agency until after the 2021 season, though just because Rodon’s name may have been mentioned in discussions obviously isn’t any sign that Chicago is exploring trades.

They probably won't be available until Sale is gone. IF they can't move Sale there's no point dumping Q and Eaton.

There are a lot of hack GM"s (that Coppy in Atlanta) that think they are so clever and will try and insert Q's name into talks to get what he wants for cheap. Like he did to dumbass Dave Stewart. Saying Q and Eaton are off limits neutralizes these tactics.
