You have two choices; live next to this guy, or IMU. Which do you pick?

You can tell how big this is with this picture.

I can promise you any of you non-rural people would be unhappy with this being next door.

If it blocked the neighbors from my view, I'm all for it.

If it's not obstructing the sidewalk, tough shit neighbors.

Exactly. There is no HOA or anything else to say that he cannot have that. It is on his property.

Very good shoutout!

I don't think anyone is saying he can't have this.

It's just a pretty bad thing to do to your neighbors.

No its not. A bad thing to do to your neighbors is have loud parties all the time, mow the lawn at 7am, have a compost pile in the back, dont keep up with the house, call the cops on the neighbors for any little thing...

Explain the reasoning behind these two things.

Why can't I have loud parties all the time if they're within the city's noise ordinance?

mow the lawn at 7am,

why is that a problem? Schaumburg ordinance allows Mon-Sat starting 7am to mow. For Sunday 8am. It's my property and I'm following the rules.

all these are would be within my rights as a property owner and if they're not violating any village codes.

I don't see the problem with any of these things you listed. My property and no codes are being violated so it's all good, right?

Because you dont have friends to have a party. As for the rest, you are purposly being obtuse.

Find something else to bitch about.

Why does the location matter?

Are you saying because he lives in Schaumburg he's allowed to be an inconsiderate neighbor?

I'm saying there is absolutely nothing inconsiderate about parking a trailer in the driveway of the house and property you own. It is not on a neighbor's property and it isn't blocking any part of the road or cul-de-sac.

edit: I haven't lived in Schaumburg in years.

Frank,
Why do these two things make you a bad neighbor?

I want you to give an answer that would not also be true for this massive trailer parked in his front yard.

What if one of the choices was your chain smoking ex-neighbor?

Factually speaking... the sun doesn't really rise in the east.
After the equinox... the sun will rise south of East and set south of west.

I think she got shut down by other neighbors.

She only smoked in her garage after about a year. I could still smell it sometimes but it was a lot better.

The best part was she tried to get me to talk to the HOA about the legally blind neighbor on the other side who let her dog use the bathroom in the front of her own house and they shared a driveway and didn't always do a great just of cleaning it up(you know, because she was legally blind and had a guide dog). I simply said "I've never complained about ANYTHING to the HOA so I'm not going to start now".

To answer your question though, I'll take the trailer.

Just because its your lawn doesn't mean you can do whatever you want.

There's a reason there are building limits placed on property such as how far from the street your house and garage must be. Also a rule as to high you can build.

That trailer is as tall as the garage and looks to be about as long. I'm sure it detracts from the views of the neighborhood for his neighbor.

I always figured setbacks were more for safety reasons than aesthetics, as, in neighborhoods, it is not that safe to be unable to see your kids down the block. . . also harder to see cars coming.

I don't have any children but I do enjoy living in a diverse neighborhood. The conversations are a lot more scintillating than "What do you do?" "I'm a middle manager."
