You can't beat 59 cents a dozen for eggs at Aldi. Eggs are eggs. But some people just want to "live the organic chicken" dream. It's mostly in their heads. Chickens are a good amount of work. The chickens have to be replaced every so often because the egg production goes down. They have to be protected from raccoons, skunks, coyotes and dogs. The coops and hen boxes have to be cleaned every so often or it's just totally disgusting. Also they require lights for laying and heated water in the winter. When you break down what it costs and how much selling of the eggs it takes to make a profit it's not worth it. The eggs from Aldi taste just as good as farm fresh eggs.

We lose a lot of rights when we look the other way when it doesn't affect our lives or it isn't a cause we agree with.

Fresh eggs are great, but every time I crack one open I'm afraid a baby chicken is going to fall out.
