That this has all been wonderful, but now I'm on my way

I really like this album so far. The first half is great. The second half meanders a bit, but ends on a high note. They should be more concise, but they haven't been for a long time now. If they made this an 8 song album, it'd be great and more focused. It'd be interesting to know what could have been had Hammett not lost all his material prior to recording, too.

the last couple of concerts I've seen them do, Lars is on speed or something. All of the songs are way way too fast.

Here I was excited to listen to this as I drove into work today (so much so that I signed up for the free 90 day trial of Apple music) but then when looking through the Metallica catalog I saw ReLoad and S&M and said fuck it and listened to those first. Only made it through the first five tracks but it was good stuff. Especially like the track with the pretty much constant rolling toms in the background (third or fourth track).

Really? Re-load? Ugh. At least it wasn't St. Anger.

so you disagree? Listen to live performance of King Nothing or Enter Sandman et al and then listen to the album cut. It's like ten times faster. The rest of the band is trying to play catchup.

(with or without don =) has effectively cost them enough $$$ so that big gaudy dolphin statue by their pool in the backyard of their mansion is solid SILVER instead of solid GOLD? (or whatever the southpark joke about how downloading music REALLY hurts the artists was) --- seriously, when it comes to "gibs me dat" you know that metallica doesn't fuck around with their $$$... they want nothing but only the finest precious metals up your ass, you know!

also, one thing i'll always =] about with metallica was that during the time i went to high school (1994-1998) was that i started high school you were cool if you rocked the latest metallica tour shirt (with your flannel, wallet chain, and long hair en route to the lunch-hour/afterschool blunt session, you know, typically affable folks like matt ingratta who everyone liked) --- by the time i left high school you weren't "cool" unless you were rocking the latest metallica tour shirt! GOTTA GET WITH THE PROGRAM [beatrix] KIDDO!

and of course the latter "cool" is said pretty fucking sarcastically because the demographic of metallica-shirt-wearing-people drastically changed from "burnouts" aka "metalheads" to "preppies" (aka what you'd now call "normies") during that 4 year period. there was definitely a hot steaming LOAD of [something] left in lieu of metallica's "cred" during those years, eh? =P

ONE MORE THING = i was never a metallica guy, but if i was i'm pretty sure THIS woulda been the moment that metallica was 100.0% officially "dead to me"
