I agree that his disrespect for the process, or more likely his willful ignorance regarding the way it works, is troublesome, but his disrespect for politicians is well-earned and shared by many Americans from both parties, and one of the driving forces behind his election in the first place.

Yeah, but sometimes the cure can be worse than the disease.

Yes, and that's the thing I find most shocking. I expected he could win the presidency after the Brexit vote, but I never thought he would drag all these other Republicans to victory with him. Many who tried to run away from him like Kelly Ayotte ended up losing. And now they're all either eager puppies grateful for a bowl of milk or whipped dogs like Paul Ryan.

Reince Priebus is going to be chief of staff. I'd say the Republican establishment is going to fare pretty well under a Trump administration.

I expect Priebus to lose out to Bannon. And Bannon has made no bones that his objective is to turn the Republican Party on its head.

Aren't you surprised regarding the people Trump is surrounding himself with now? True old-fashioned conservatives were as appalled by Trump as the left and now it seems he is filling his cabinet with them. I guess the question might be, "Who else would he get?"

The problem for him in terms of governing is that he will have to work with those same people that he tears down on a daily basis. He also tore down a great number of press people too. For all of the talk about bias he ripped a number of press people along the way. He ripped some simply for asking tough questions during interviews

I think in this case we should probably be hoping that no one will be willing to work with him.

I think the press is going to start getting really tough on Trump. They loved him before this.

The press is generally lazy. They like anyone that gives them a soundbite or who writes the story for them. They "loved" Trump in the same way the Chicago beat writers "loved" Ditka back in the day. They knew he was a jerk-off but he made their jobs really easy.

Trump can't "report". He can speak directly. Why do you feel that people need an extra layer in between?

Huh? Because this isn't Russia.

You know, I've often pointed out- usually in conversations with Boilermaker Rick- that all of our systems and the things that ties us together as a society are a lot more fragile than most people believe. I'm certain many Jews in 1930s Germany thought Hitler "could never happen here". But you have to look at the circumstances. At least half the country hates Trump. The climate really doesn't exist for him to seize all power and declare himself a dictator.

All of this alarmism and over-the-top hysteria is coming from a media that was pushing another candidate in a way that was unprecedented. The concept that Trump is somehow different from all other presidents and "not normal" has been developed and promoted by this same media. What is actually different is the way Wall Street and its cronies in corporate globalism, including many foreign entities along with the mainstream media, led a charge for a particular candidate and are now attempting to undermine the person that beat her at every turn before he has even taken office.

The bottom line here is that the most important thing we have is The Constitution. That is our safeguard if someone like Trump actually turns out to be a Mussolini. And we must be diligent instead of complacent when people, specifically presidents with their executive orders, try to circumvent The Constitution or chip away at its power, regardless of whether that president is a Democrat or a Republican.

He doesn't have to be the second coming of Hitler to be an autocrat though. That is the point that is missed in all of this. He doesn't respect politicians nor the political process and that is a problem. Were you writing about Obama?

Wasn't but that applies to him also. I have stated previously that I wasn't really sold on him in 08. I have had discussions with people that I know about him for years. One of the reasons that I didn't believe the hype is because nothing in history demonstrated that he really had a stomach for legislating and governing. I also don't think he really liked politics. There are some guys when you study their history you just know that they love the shit for better or worse. I'd rather have a guy like that in office. I don't want a guy that believes he is doing the world a favor by getting involved in politics. I don't want a savior either. At the end of the day you are a public servant.

Bullshit. They were always down on him and making fun of him. Said he had no chance. Said he wasn't smart or savvy enough. They are always going to say the nastiest thing about self made men like himself. This campaign was a war on the working and self made men class and now that our candidate won the press is scrambling for anything to latch onto.

All this talk about how the MSM is so awesome and needed . Aren't you most of the same guys who where cheering when the Arab Spring came up and we where getting all the "real" news from people with cameras and cell phones. Or with the people taking cell phones videos of police stops and posting them? Can't have it both ways either they are doing a good job and needed or the little guy with the cell phone is doing the work they should be doing.
Trump is bypassing them much in the same way FDR and Truman did, they held their fireside chats and spoke directly to the people. No filters or moderators. Difference is back then the MSM didn't think it was this all important thing that was part of the political process like it is today telling the general populace what it should and should not do and think.
Plus, they are not in Trumps corner look at all the crying and complaining when he won. No way 20 years ago you would have seen legitimate news people doing that kinda shit after an election. Add to the fact the total lack of respect for Trump and his family we already have people openly mocking his family, never had that shit during Obamas term, that would have been sacrilegious. Hell the eldest got caught smoking pot and it was a non-story.
I am also disturbed at the lack of balls by most of you. 3 times so far after the election LTG has compared Trump and his followers to Nazis and you fucking ball-less wonders let it slide once again showing the double standard around here. When someone even mentions Obama and his penchant for killing civilians the usual suspects are up in arms about it.

No one is "up in arms" about calling out Obama for drone strikes... and given the video that was just shared, is it wrong to identify at least some of Trump's supporters as neo-nazis? You are a whiny little bitch just like the guy you voted for.

Fuck yeah. Especially in the family part. Ivanka and Jared attend one meeting with the Japs and the MSM goes berserk. You'd think we just got nuked. But the MSM doesnt say shit about Obamas wife being in the white House or his kids taking pictures with former presidents. Same shit crooked would have pulled if she successfully rigged the election but thank God she sucks at that too.

I wouldn't say that. People just dont give a shit about stuff that isn't affecting them personally, even stuff like us blowing up international aid hospitals and not even acknowledging it.

Agreed. No one disagrees... They just don't care.

The Internet, by it's nature, can make something small into something giant or can take something that is wrong and easily promote it as fact. Aggregators pick up stories and if those stories are bullshit, they are suddenly all over the place, part of the very fabric of the World Wide Web. For an example of this, think of a song to which you absolutely know the lyrics and look up those lyrics on the Web. If you find one site that has them wrong, you will find countless others that have them wrong in the exact same way. The Internet has now effectively rewritten the song.

Just this morning my wife advised me of Trump supporters shouting, "Lügenpresse!" at rallies. Naturally, I was appalled by this. In my mind I immediately pictured the images of Leni Riefenstahl, modernized and brought to life in Western Pennsylvania. Of course, in our modern age when everyone has a camera there had to be video of this. The only thing I could find was these two morons, one of whom obviously had no idea what the word meant or where it came from:

https://www.buzzfeed.com/rosiegray/the- ... .ewEVwZP1J

Now, maybe there are huge swaths of Trump supporters out there screaming, "Lügenpresse!" at rallies all over the place, but I haven't seen any evidence of such and thus, I remain dubious. And one should be able to understand why the media taking video of these two goofs and turning that into the broad statement that "Trump supporters have adopted old Nazi term" calls the reliability of that media into question.

The incident your wife was likely referencing is this one: https://www.theatlantic.com/politics/archive/2016/11/richard-spencer-speech-npi/508379/. And yeah, it's pretty fucking disturbing.

Whoa! I'm guessing there haven't been that many people at a Nazi rally in years.

The alt right has been organizing like this for years but it hasn't been reported. I saw or read about some black guy that literally follows them around and records them going to their conferences.

it's going to suck pretty hardcore for Trump when these guys inevitably turn on him. I wouldn't want these crazies as my enemies.

That's true. The media is trying to hang these psychos around Trump's neck, and deservedly so since he definitely went out of his way to appeal to them. That was the Bannon strategy. You can claim you're not a racist or whatever, but they need to own the fact that they whipped these people up and tailored their campaign to appeal to them. But, I don't believe Trump is their ideal candidate. He was just the most logical guy for them to back at the time.

Hey, moron. You just posted this picture, fourteen minutes after that post. You never pass up an opportunity to look like an idiot.
