Once the SCORE people stop crying, it's about getting it. As Good Dolphin once said, backups and producers at the SCORE would kill their mother for a full time talk show.

Consensus is it's either Rozner or Goff. If Goff then Rozner goes with Spiegel.

Some say Larry. I say no chance.

Some say Bernstein has the final say and he'll only choose a Jewish person (Wait, that's me that says that. I'm probably right.)

The dark horse is drinky. Now, I don't think he has a shot. He's cried on the air that he'll never get a talk show at the SCORE. My suggestion to drinky: BEG.

Yeah, beg. I know you have pride, but this is the last shot. No time for pride right now. See that pulp fiction scene about pride. You can't get it on merit. You know that, drinky. So begging is the only way. You should literally get on your hands and knees, cry and beg Mitch to give it to you.

Listeners don't want it. Bernstein doesn't want it. Everybody thinks you suck. But that's what you need to do for your sake. If not this opening, then it never happens. You've been passed over enough. This is the show you've worked on for years. Take my advice or leave it. But begging for Terry's spot is the only chance for you to be a talk show host. Might as well try it. No down side.

I think you have to fill Terry's vacated position with a seasoned host, not a producer looking for a bump in pay and stature. That effectively rules out Drinky, Zawaski, and the rest of the mumbling guys (seriously, they ALL mumble) behind the glass, and leaves Rozner, Goff, and Holmes. I'd be fine with Goff or Holmes taking the position, and with either of them going with Dan, there is a void created at either end of Bernstein's afternoon show, which is what The Producers will want to pounce on.

Of course, Mitch could throw us a curveball and give Dan his own show from 1-3, then shift the afternoon show from 3-7 and start fresh.

I'm listening less and less as it is. I'll probably listen more this month because I'm not traveling as much for work and given the time of year I can leave the Loop at 4:45 more frequently than 5:45.

Dan/Jason and Matt/Barry makes the most sense given the current shift times. But what makes more sense is making the drive time show 2-6:30 so you don't have to pay somebody to do 35 minutes of show before Cub pregame. So in that case, I think 2-6:30 ends up being Dan/LoHo.

There was a time where I loved this game at this site almost as much as the "Sir salary game".

It's sad that I don't care much anymore.

My two cents is that Hood is the perfect replacement. He has familiarity with Bernstein and Dan's respect. He brought out the fun side of Dan while challenging him. He works hard at his craft.

That's how I actually found the original message board was because of Bernstein's contract snafu around 2003.

If you remember, Spiegs kinda hinted that Rozner was a little disappointed that he didn't get the midday shot originally, so I always speculated that he was told to be patient and he would a perm role once Boers retired.

1. Rozner moves to middays with Spiegel and they romanticize about baseball to each year round.

2. Goff moves to afternoons with Bernstein.

I'm dreading the notion of Rozner full-time. Even though he has effectively been that these last few months, there was always a light at the end of the tunnel signifying "no more Rozner".

He has a voice nearly as grating and irritating as David Schuster's, that cannot be your intermediate- or long-term solution for a weekday show.
