Not really. He's a bat. Probably like Napoli. No big deal.

He's a GREAT at bat with a lot of winning intangibles. He's not a Napoli.

That still describes Napoli.

Schwarber is Big Papi. Napoli hit 30+ home runs once in his career. Schwarber will do that annually if he's healthy.

 Another Cub prospect who is a Hall of Famer? Where are RPB and RFDC to eaplain how no Cub fans ever say that shit? I highly doubt Schwarber will have the career Napoli already has.

You were just telling us that Bryant's ceiling was Matt Stairs last year.

That's not what I said. I said if you could lock in Matt Stairs' career before Bryant had ever played a big league game, most Cub fans wouldn't do it.

Stairs had a really good career but when you have a stud prospect you dream a little bit more.

I know everyone will think I'm insane but I think Schwarber will be the best hitter on the team next season.

I don't think it's insane. But it's a tall order, with Rizzo and Bryant both MVP candidates again next year. But Schwarber is a special hitter and I am excited to see what he can do in a full season. if he can stay healthy. It should be a lot of fun to watch those 3 back to back. So glad Theo didn't deal Schwarber.

You would be wrong today, tomorrow and every tomorrow thereafter.

Even if you were assured each of those guys would realize his best projections, those two are not worth Chris Sale

True, though I believe Vogelbach is a bum, The Sox are drafting Jerry's neices and nephews in the 38th round while the Cubs are grabbing Carl Edwards.

Everyone forgets his fading at the end of 2015 after a hot start. Is that any less real than his playoff success?

True, and he was in the 48th round, 5 rounds after Ron Schuellers daughter and 8 rounds after Reinsdorphs grandson.

who did the Cubs take in those rounds in the same draft, because if those guys didn't make it then didn't prove your point

You talking bout yourself in the third person? The guy came in cold from knee surgery after being out for 6 months and hit well against righties n lefties..the Cubs don't win if he isn't playing in the WS.

Do you know what thread you are in?

People are talking about trading Sale mostly for Schwarber who is a home run hitter who is coming off a massive knee injury who showed no ability to hit the long ball in the games he played.

Its impossible to know if GM's believe in this nonsense, but if they do just pull him back. The overvaluing of these guys who have done well/average in 300 PA is ridiculous.

He wasn't supposed to be playing and he hit a couple of doubles off the wall. You don't really believe that knee injury cost him his power.

That's why you have doctors. You don't trade for Sale and cross your fingers either.

He may be healthy and not be a 35 a year home run hitter.

Back injuries are an issue with power. His knee injury isn't a problem. Doctors understand this. His play in the WS tells you he isn't a Derrick Rose either.

I'm not sure what your point is. Is it that there should be no concerns that a home run hitter hit almost all singles in the only action he saw last year?

Don't get me wrong either. I would trade for Schwarber in the right package. It's just a tough chance to take that you are giving up one of the great pitchers of our generation for a guy with one season of results who clearly was either not 100% by the World Series or lacks the power he once displayed. Both of those options make it difficult to trust that you won't look stupid by giving up Sale for an average DH.

I wouldn't trade Sale BUT if I were the Sox I would love to have a bat like that with some of the intangibles he appears to have. Trading Sale or trading for him is a huge gamble to make and I'm afraid that we won't like what the Sox get in return.

You have to balance out how ludicrous the idea of Sale being Randy Johnson is with the fact that Sale through age 27 has been much better RJ was through that age, but ask what you would give up for 27 year old Randy Johnson at Brett Cecil prices for the next 3 years. You think of it that way and it seems ludicrous that any player with less than a full season under his belt could be considered off limits in any sense. And guys like Schwarber who really still occupy the land of "talented but uncertain", I mean how many of those would you have to be offered to give up a HOF level guy?

Now you walk it all back a little because Sale has a long way to go before anyone thinks Cooperstown, and the injury risk inherent to all pitchers is a dark cloud hanging over any deal, but the point still stands...the Sox need to be absolutely blown away by a prospect package that is nearly unprecedented in league history ON TOP of some MLB ready players who are very high on the talent scale. Anything less...I dont think I can stomach it.
