I have no idea why this spiked on twitter today but I saw MANY people throwing out the bullshit that if you voted for Jill Stein you handed Trump the election.

Let's get a few things clear.

1) Votes aren't promised. You have to earn them. You don't get to call bullshit when someone who may share some or most of your views gets votes too. Not everyone who voted for Stein was casting a vote in protest.

2) The segment of the Democratic Party that is wasting time and energy on this argument would be a hell of a lot better served asking those people why they voted for Stein. You might learn something that would be beneficial in coming elections instead of getting bent out of shape because you're guy lost by a small enough margin that you can perform the mental gymnastics to chalk the loss up to a "spoiler" candidate.

I wanted Hillary to win more than most people but this argument is fucking stupid and does absolutely nothing to help our country going forward. We usually don't approach someone who disagrees with us in other aspects of life with the equivalent of "hey fuckhead, what's wrong with you?" so I'm not sure why we do it with politics.

Hillary lost 3 states by a combined total of 70k votes. Stein got over 100k votes in those states. She clearly cost Hillary the election.

I also read that people voting for Gary Johnson protest voters costing Hillary the election. By that logic people voting for trump also cost Hillary the election.

didnt the rigging basically mean that it had to be rigged to be even "this close" ??? i always maintained that i dont think anyone actually liked hillary IRL (maybe lipid is some kind of glorious exception? =) so i was wondering how she was gonna get all these votes by default outside of the "anyone but trump (but let's be realistic here)" vote. in the end it turned out that even with all of the "heads up voting" she STILL couldn't garner enough votes to actually win, seeing as representational democracy is technically some kind of bitch because it's like "who are these rubes in the middle of nowhere who refuse to accept that their voice is worthless because they don't wanna live in a place where other people en masse want to live?" =)
