Some goof guest on radio yesterday had it much higher. Like very likely.

The Sox have to know they will get less at the deadline than right now in return, even less next year, gotta think they move him in the next 3 months.

The odds of the Sox pulling the trigger on a Sale trade are near 100%. The odds of a team offering a trade the Sox will pull the trigger on is the question, and I really have no idea. 50/50 sounds about right simply because who knows.

Sources: #Nationals remain in talks with #WhiteSox on Sale and #Pirates on McCutchen. #RedSox open on Sale, but only at lesser asking price.

Sources add: #Astros, #Rangers out on Sale at current asks. #Dodgers more focused on free agents than trades. #Braves still in mix.

With #WhiteSox’s Sale - as with any off-season negotiation, trade or free agent - talks are fluid and positions can shift at any time.

Astros never really excited me that much unless they would be willing to part with Bregman and Springer together, which they're not going to do. Martes, Paulino, Tucker...none of them are on the level of the complimentary pieces Boston, Washington or even the Dodgers can put up. They are better than the Braves though, who are clearly just hanging on the periphery like vultures.

As long as they still have Dombrowski on the line they are in good shape. That's the guy with the prizes we really want.

I gotta feeling they won't trade him.
The trade will be by far the most scrutinized deal in team history. They'll catch shit for every error or blown save or strikeout that the player get make.
Or they just keep a stud pitcher on a friendly deal.

@BNightengale
The #Nats are actually trying to trade for Chris Sale AND Andrew McCutchen and believe they have the prospects to pull off both trades.

Either Pittsburgh is absolutely enamored with Joe Ross or Rizzo is starting to entertain the notion of letting go of Turner.

Well.....The Nats just acquired a catcher or should I say reacquired since he was a prospect of theirs. And I am pretty pretty pretty sure they have a catching prospect.

Things are really heating up...today may be the day.

Jon Heyman ‏@JonHeyman 2m2 minutes ago
Nats are said to stepping for Sale. Meeting this aft. Red Sox are involved, and others, too.

The fact that the Red Sox are back in is encouraging.

Nats trying to put together a super rotation like the Phillies did a few years ago with Doc, Cliff Lee, etc.

The tone is changing from this untouchable shit, its not out of the question to think Turner, Giolito and Robles all come back in a Sale trade. The further the trash Astros and even trashier Braves get in the rearview mirror the better...Red Sox and Nats are the teams with the shit you really want.

I don't the Nat's are realistic trading partners, Harper is gone after 18' so I can't see them trading away young cost controlled guys..The Sox are the desperate team, not Washington or Boston.

If Bryce Harper is really leaving after 2018 isn't Sale perfect? Cheap for the next 3 years and if Harper bolts to the Yankees you just dont re-sign Sale after 2019 and go about rebuilding things. If you're in a two year title window Sale is basically #1 on your list.

The Sox aren't desperate. It's not a problem to keep Sale.

Right, which is why trading Sale is kind of dumb. He's the kind of guy you are seeking when you rebuild. You already have him.

So Rosenthal tweeted out that the trade is close and from the looks of it no Turner. Just Giolito and Robles.

I gotta say that would be an unmitigated disaster and about half of what I would expect the return for Sale (with that contract) to be. Gonna hard to keep being a fan if this goes through.

At the risk of sounding like a Sox troll I don't think Sale is worth 4 top flight prospects. I have a feeling he's going to crash and burn pretty soon. Nothing but a hunch to base that on.

Trea Turner and Dansby Swanson are untouchable players in today's MLB.

Hahn should be hanging up on those clowns in DC and Atlanta.

That really doesn't matter. If you're gonna trade the guy you expect to get something stratospheric in return. Giolito and Robles is what I'd expect for Eaton, not Sale.

Giolito is an incredibly talented TJS case who struggled mightily on his callup. Robles in 19, in A ball and now has more pressure on his shoulders than any prospect in the game. The rest of it will be filler...I cant believe Hahn fell for this dogshit.
