No more than 2 inches in Kenosha. It was wet but didn't take long to shovel last night. Very slippery. I have a detached garage and
was going out to grab something in my Birkenstocks and went ass over tea kettle on the concrete steps. Could have been bad
but woke up this morning and just a little sore.

5-6" in Orland. I think the pavement still being warm did good to melt the first ~inch or so. The weather forecasters certainly dropped the ball on this storm though. All week I heard 1-2", maybe 3" as you got further west. That was upped to 2-4" at some point on Saturday, and we had that much on the ground by noon on Sunday.

I generally do not mind shoveling either. I am glad I raked what leaves were left on Saturday and put up all of the outside Christmas stuff on Friday before this shit came thru.

I flew out of ORD yesterday. Was sitting on the plane for 4 hours...from ~ 1:45p ... during the worst of it. Plane was de-iced 3 times.

Of more significant attention in the extended period is the
potential for another round of snow Saturday night into Sunday.
The 0z GFS is amped up with all the classic signs of a powerful
winter storm (deep upper trough becoming negatively tilted,
strengthening upper jet and associated frontogentical
circulations, strong moisture transport on a low level jet,
deepening surface low) on Sunday while other guidance is a bit
more muted, certainly reflective on how the upper trough ejects
from the west and interacts with moist low level flow. All models
show ascent developing ahead of western CONUS upper level energy
with some lighter snow getting into the Mississippi valley by late
Saturday afternoon then spreading into at least portions of the
area Saturday night, then their evolutions diverge considerably
with the EC some 18-24 hours later with bringing stronger upper
level energy capable of developing a strong surface low. The low
it develops is weaker as well but does still bring a snow/snow-
rain mix in later Sunday/Sunday night. The Canadian model is sort
of in between the two with a single system but more muted than the
GFS. GFS Ensembles support a less amplified pattern not like the
operational GFS, but predictability is somewhat low as expected.
Regardless there are signs for another chance for snow during this
period.

anyone have a good recommendation on gloves ? I have a pair of Thinsulate ones that are just OK...it's ~20 out now and they aren't doing the greatest job, so when it gets to single digits they're practically useless. I don't care if I can operate my phone with them on or any shit like that, I just want a really warm pair of gloves

I wish I could go crawl into bed and not get out until after next weekend. Snow Sat-Mon, single digits after that and topped off with more snow next weekend. We are paying the piper for a comfortable November.
