They split the last book into 2. I don't know if they need to but I see why they did.

Not sure it is the best because of Part 3 but The Godfather Trilogy is my favorite.

I like to think that the excessive greatness of Parts 1 & 2 make up for the shortcomings of the final installment.

Maybe? Maybe not?

Godfather 3 is so so bad. Doesn't get shown and can't watch it if it is bad.

So many things went wrong in Part 3.

If we want to get specific, a trilogy is a self contained 3 film series that has the storyline come to conclusion at the end.

I'd vote Star Wars 4-6. Otherwise, my favorite would be:

Batman Begins
The Dark Knight
The Dark Knight Rises

Nobody going -

Mad Max
Road Warrior
Beyond Thunderdome

?

Fury Road was an abomination and doesn't count.

Godfather and Batman are up there.

The Matrix is one of my all-time favorites. They should have stopped there.

And from the first round of Star Trek movies:

Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan (1982)
Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home (1986)

Glad to see the definition of 'trilogy' is still looser than a Karsnatchian.

Goldfinger
The Spy Who Loved Me
Casino Royale

On the strength of the first movie alone, The Naked Gun movies stack up pretty well.

Kind of like the Aarons being the brothers with the most home runs? (Hank 755, Tommy 13)
