This is a pretty effective ad. It's getting some buzz now, which is kind of revealing the ending and ruining the point of the commercial.

I don't think this'll be on broadcast TV--not to my knowledge anyway.

I used to have a back-and-forth like that on a desk back when I was in high school. Except I never knew who the other person was, and we just did word tree games. Like you'd write a word, and make another word out of a specific letter, and keep building on it. It was a math class I think. So that angle kinda took me back.

Or you can't diagnose kids like that or parents won't admit it. Or the kid is awful and the parents have sought help and there is nothing any system can do. Or everybody is working on it. Or, or, or...it goes on.

Something like 90-95% of mass school shootings since the mid-90s have anti-depressant links. This isn't to say some people seriously do need these drugs, but over medicating children is a major issue in this country.

Yeah it's a sad statistic. When you take ssri meds they literally grow new neuro-receptors in your brain. They look like little branches, but when you stop taking the meds all that disappears. It just goes black on a brain scan. Some people can handle this transition, but others... well yeah. There are other instances where someone just doesn't react well to the meds for whatever reason. Violence is an extreme reaction, but there are countless records of abnormal behavior after someone begins taking anti-depressants.

If any of that is interesting to anyone, try and find some articles about how terrible those first few generations of Prozac were.

uh... ok cool ad because i didnt notice what it was about until the end, as they intended

but it was about a kid who was bullied and ignored. THAT is the real problem. notice the guy who got the girl wasnt the one shooting up the school? have you ever payed attention to real life documentaries of these kids who shoot up schools? they all have something in common- no pussy to eat. sure, the vast majority of dudes manage to not shoot others despite no pussy to eat, but this is the absolute core of the problem. they want to get laid and nobody wants to fuck them. and it all starts at home, then evolves at school. dont do this, dont do that, sit in that chair for 8 hours a day, dont have fun... ok i did all of those things now wheres my pussy? well, son, youre not old enough. besides, you should be able to figure that out on your own i dont want to talk about it im uncomfortable. just go live on the edge a little, your fuckin generation are pussies. what? i thought i was doing everything as im told. no, youre just an idiot. fuck off idiot. ok, fine, fuck this, fuck you, bang bang bang.

I thought it was going to turn out there was no girl, and that there were some boys playing a joke on the kid...which then made him snap.

i thought something similar too, especially because the name of the video was the kid's name. i thought it was going to be some "jeremy" thing.

the main idea of the ad is that we pay attention to one thing while what goes on in plain sight is unnoticed. it's not just that we're potentially ignoring a dangerous person, but we're not looking at what the kid is experiencing either. every single one of the kids that shot up a school had exactly those attributes. that's why the ad included them all. it's hard to not simplify something if it's a 2 minute ad.

what it's trying to say is simple though: pay attention and be aware.

So do we think Evan hit that? If anything, it probably helped with the grieving process after the shooting.
