The White Sox will have a payroll of about $40 million. Sign him put him at first base and make up for the next two years of total bullshit.

1. What makes you think the cheap ass Sox would pony up $350-400 million for Harper?

2. Why would Harper want to come to the Sox?

1. They did it before for Albert Belle. Reinsdorf pays for top talent. See Michael Jordan in 96, 97 and 98. They also were going to offer A-Rod something close to his asking price in 200.

2. Lots of money. Be the face of the franchise in a big market and basically call all the shots. Should be a talented cost controlled team by then.

I am not saying up or down to this specifically. I do say that when this is close to done and the players are developed (if they are) then a big splash may be necessary.

This might be the best Sox offseason thread yet so far.

The White Sox Front Office has Sox fans running in circles.

Truly the greatest baseball year ever.

$400  That's Harper ask to Nationals for an extension, after a down year. He'll get almost double that come 2018 if
he bounces back to that 2015 level, plus he'll have a bunch of teams bidding for his services. He offered the Nationals a discount because anything can happen over the next two years (injuries would torpedo his $$$ value)...he's outside of all but LAD, Boston, NYY, Nationals (they'll try, they have to) and Cubs price ranges. Perhaps a surprise team jumps in. He's not coming to the White Sox.

It's not just your post ... it's the aggregate entertainment value of all the posts so far with the promise of so many more to come I'm quite sure.

That said, the White Sox will sooner (re-)sign Charlie Hough than Bryce Harper.

He's not going to get $800 million. And I never said he was coming to the White Sox. Just saying I think they owe the fans a big free agency signing now, and he's the biggest name I can think of down the line. It would be a nice way to show they are a serious franchise again.

Nobody should pay that kind of money for one ballplayer.

Yeah, nah. Don't lump me in with that fagwagon on account of you being a Polly Pisspants b/c I'm enjoying all the terrible reactionary Sox thoughts. You might notice I'm not the only one that thinks the idea of Jerry signing Harper is laughable.

well the White Sox are apparently in on Derek Holland, so there's your free agent.

Someone has to fill out the rotation when sale and Q are gone

Perhaps Jerry can meet with Big-Jim-Thompson and negotiate a way for the State of Illinois / taxpayers to pickup the tab for Harper. Jerry's a tough negotiator according to Big-Jim. Sox can get their own form of a Link card.

Yeah. Bringing up a single post into every thread we both post in for almost a year is very normal. Not an obsessive stalker move at all. And dont should be don't. You are so stupid. Let's discuss this for the next year.

Nothing like exaggeration.

You work on not making stupid comments and maybe things will get better for you.

You are reaching dignified rube levels of stupid.

The Sox are not going to sign top tier free agents for at least 2-3 years. It would be counter productive. The idea is to divest themselves of as much talent as possible that can bring good young talent in return and LOSE a lot of games so as to get top draft picks. Then in a couple years, when the young players they traded for and drafted are ready to contribute at the major league level, you see where the holes in the team exist at that point and look over the free agents who might address the needs of the team. This thread is stupid, as the team will not be ready to add top free agents in a year and maybe not in 2 either. Settle in for the next 3 years of losing and then see where things are at. If Kenny and Hahn do a bad job identifying talent it may be much more than 3 years.
