Larry is now excited about renewing his tickets. I think it's safe to say most people cheering a complete breakdown won't be buying a lot of tickets.

Also, Goff just mentioned Appel right after I did. Interesting.

I really didn't understand the spin Holmes was putting on it. It sounded like complete bullshit. He's saying that we should all be excited to watch games of a team that we know will be one of the worst in baseball.

My take (as Holmes put it the other night) was Holmes is saying buy tickets not to necessarily watch bad baseball. He seemed to think it is a sign to the Sox they are doing the right things. I am not saying either way but that was his thinking.

The real problem with tearing it all down is that the assumption is that Kenny & Co. are as smart as Theo & Co. The Cubs hit on almost every draft pick. We have years of data showing that Kenny does not.

The real difference is the Cubs have an owner that said yes to everything. The Sox have an owner that says no to everything.

This.

While I do not mind trading Sale (and am thinking this specific trade may actually work out), I have zero faith in Rick Hahn and Kenny doing a complete rebuild. These are the same idiots that signed Adam Dunn, LaRoche and Tood Frazier. I could have told you before they signed that all three were suck ass NL losers that would not be able to adequately hit AL pitching.

So, the Sox don't do anything, you are not happy. They make a trade, and you are not happy?

Yes, that is the board theme for MANY since the move was announced.

This is bullshit. MANY of us didn't believe they needed to rebuild. MANY of us were okay with him trading Sale if they got proper value. The Sox had a million dollar property that any team would want. Instead of working the market to get $1.25 to $1.5 million for it they sold it for $400k.

I think maybe we are around 750-800 not the 400 you are saying.

It would be gambling to do what you are wanting. Washington was offering crap, Braves did not want to pay, so really the market was the Red Sawks. Could you of held onto Sale? Yes. But we know he has a terrible throwing motion, and I am sure we are at a time where his arm is about to fall off. I am not interested in that gamble. A team paid Rich Hill at 36yrs old almost $50, rather than trade for Sale. So explain where you were going to get 4x the return the Sox got, that you claim?

I think it was Kenny who did most of that. I am pretty sure, Rick has stated he goes to JR/Kenny and says these are the plans, and said they(JR or JR and Kenny) pick the plan. Which reading between the lines says he doesn't want to trade for a Frazier or sign a guy. I am pretty confident he wanted to trade guys at the deadline and was blocked.

I can agree with not trusting Kenny but I think Hahn is the one that wants to rebuild without Kenny.

Trading Sale is fine.

Trading Sale just to trade him is stupid.

There is no reason for fans to believe that the Sox are adequately capabale of judging talent.

Fuck this stupid franchise.

Based on your comments and other the Sox made the right move beyond a doubt. No matter what they did it is clear the majority of the fan base would hate the choice or the ability of them to execute. So they should say screw the fans not coming anyway and try something new. They will hope by their example during this process they will win some fans back and lure new ones. What they clearly recognized is there is no more pleasing the fans with near 500 tries and they have no money to buy a champion.

So sit back and watch or don't.

New would have been launching, at the very least, KW. The team stunk from the top down, but here we sit with the same guys in charge.

For all we know KW is doing crosswords at his desk collecting Uncle Jerry's checks to stay out of it.

have you observed JR owned organizational management over the past decade or so

Kenny, no. But Hahn? Maybe.

Zack Collins, Zack Burdi and Alec Hansen had very good to monster campaigns in the minors in 2016, and they made up 3 of the Sox' top 4 prospects as ranked by Fangraphs, the other prospect being Carson Fulmer.

With the acquisition of Moncada, Kopech and Basabe, Hahn acquisitions (if we assume he is at the helm making these choices) now comprise 7 of the top-7 prospects in the system, which is certainly now in the top-half of the league.

It seems like MANY are putting their faith in Hahn to do something he hasn't shown he has the ability to. I trust Kenny more than Hahn. Similar to the Bulls with GarPax. I trust Paxson more because he produced when he was in the GM role.

I don't wanna get off topic. But WTF did Pax produce,

Yes, Kenny won the 05 WS because of a crazy trade to shed payroll(Lee), and road the coattail in 06. Then, after 06 Kenny went full retard.

Identify future talent for acquisition via trade of prime assets? You're right, I don't think he has done that, because he hasn't been allowed to do so for his entire tenure. Jerry and Kenny wouldn't allow him to trade Shark at the deadline when the team had an 11% projected chance of making the postseason.

What he has been able to do, though, is identify young talent in the draft. Carlos Rodon, Carson Fulmer, Zack Collins, Burdi, Hansen, etc., are all taking steps to mature into MLB-level players and contributors. I think that is a skill that translates well to his current task: trade the team's immediate assets for future ones.

If there's anyone who doesn't deserve an ounce of trust in completing this task, it's Kenny.

Paxson drafted well except when he reached with Tyrus. The Bulls got really close but injuries ultimately closed their window.

Even with Reinsdorf's handcuffs Kenny was VERY aggressive from the moment he got here. He believes you start with pitching and build from there. He made a lot of moves that positioned the Sox to win. Finessing Sale and others to sign long term deals also helped.

That's the problem a lot of Sox fans have. Every move they believe is good they claim Hahn is responsible BUT every time something bad happens they claim it's because Kenny is running everything.

Right, trading prospects to get those assets which he ran out of.

Hahn has built those prospects back up, and you want Kenny to trade them for what? The Fraziers of the world?

I think we have clear evidence of the type of player Williams prefers to draft. It's a guy who is very much like he was himself, every tool except the most important one- the ability to recognize a hittable pitch. The most recent drafts haved moved away from that type of player. I don't believe that's coincidental.

What would the Red Sox have given the Cubs for Schwarber? Imagine the angst in comparing hauls. Who knows, still may happen.
