Is a Greg Holland signing not far behind?

Another source confirms Cubs deal for Wade Davis is not done, but there is optimism that something will come together.

Get Holland!

But he may prefer to close to get his value back and re-enter the market next year...

What?

The trade for Chapman worked so I'm gonna put that in the good column. Then again, maybe your including the Rick Aguilera and Antonio Alfonseca deals in your premise.

I will gladly take another World Series victory for any prospects they give up for Davis.

A "ton" for Davis? C'mon (Hatchet)man!

And the Chapman trade was and will always be good no matter what you say.

They won the fucking World Series ya goofy bastard, how the hell is that bad? That's literally how their scheme works. Build up what you got, keep a lot of good extra, trade the excess for the shit you need, win.

By all accounts he talked them off the ledge during the rain delay so, yeah, that was fine too.

You're hitting Shreve-level bad baseball thoughts here.

The hangup in Wade Davis' reported deal to the Cubs? The Nationals have made a late push.

Disagree. Glyber Torres is going to be an outstanding player. He was too much to give up for a rental and Chapman wasn't that great. Unlike Jansen and Miller, he was hard pressed to go more than an inning effectively and then bounce back the next game. He very nearly blew the World Series. Had they gotten Andrew Miller, who has a couple years left on his contract, giving up Torres would be easier to accept. I'm glad they are not trying to bring him back. It was hard to root for him.

Nah, you're just a fuckstick.

The Cubs won 11 games to win the 2016 World Series. Chapman threw the last pitch for the Cubs in 7 of those wins, two games in which he didn't record the last out he got the win. 2 Wins, 4 saves. Torres can't make enough all star teams for this to be a bad trade for the Cubs.

My new year's wish is that Steve can't afford to pay for his internet connection.

I absolutely agree with you. The trade was worth it even if Torres turns out to be Derek Jeter II. The Cubs won the fucking World Series. I honestly did not believe that was possible.

Aroldis Chapman played a large role in helping the Cubs get to and win the World Series. Winning the World Series was...I don't know... sort of the goal behind all of the moves the organization has made in the last 5 years, no? Torres and Soler were redundant pieces on the 2016-2017-2018 teams... I think Torres is going to be very good, and I think Soler will still be a very effective OF for years to come. But in two years we're all going to be giddy for Jimenez and Happ... it isn't as if Soler was the one young Cubs outfield prospect. Torres has a high ceiling...but the Cubs already have a SS with a high ceiling...two of them, in fact.

I'm not much for announcers, executives and other peripherals in the hall but certainly not in the Plaque Gallery.

How can anyone criticize a trade that directly contributed to a WS win? Steve, you're a fucking idiot. Even the Heyward signing is justified because THEY WON THE FUCKING WORLD SERIES.
