This has to be one of the most effectively disturbing and unnerving movies I've watched recently. It stars Jason Bateman and Rebecca Hall as a married couple who get random, Beardown-like visits from an old "school friend" of Bateman's character played by the writer/director Joel Edgerton.

The film nips and paws at all the familiar tropes of a "family thriller", where a family--in this case just a childless unmarried couple--are terrorized by a person of the past. this was similarly done in the 2005 film "cache".

here, it looks like edgerton is trying to tell two stories--a bully who has been called to answer for his past; and, a psychopath who will stop at nothing for revenge.

neither of these stories are told as predictably as you'd think. and even when you're watching an ending you could see coming, i don't think your blood won't run cold.

It's an unsettling film, but extremely well executed. Not a great first date movie btw.

:D :D :D out of :D :D :D :D

I know this is a minority opinion, but this is easily the most boring movie I've seen in the last couple years.
