That's not happening any time soon. Many young engineers are working on water. The Southwest will be fine. I like living in the dry heat desert and looking at mountains.

I keep telling my parents to move up to WI with me. They are pretty much retired and have no attachment to the area as everyone else has either moved or died. Why stay in a state where you have high taxes and absolutely no say since you don't live in cook fucking county.

this. despite wages being weak and the education system being raped to shreds, its still a really nice area to live. stay out of milwaukee though.. madison is great, up north like appleton area or wausau is good too. i wouldnt call wisconsin the best move career wise, but there is tons of great towns to retire in.
