Based on download rates, it is a rumor.

Eh, you probably generate the same amount of traffic Julie did when she got hired by The Game.

yeah, my best guess is rozner. and honestly you can do a lot worse than rozner (see CH's "and julie dicaro" stuff cuz i mean, man, having bernstein partnered with someone who's even more driven to look for ways to not like you than HE is = *sigh* )

i kind of occasionally have a pretty dry sense of humor so idk if people got the joke last time when i said "obviously goff is the #1 choice / best case scenario here"

Rozner paired with Bernstein would be unlistenable, if only because Rozner's tired shtick bogs down the show way too often, and quickly becomes the comedy equivalent of Drinky forcing "83" into everything, all attached to an absolutely annoying voice.

Seriously, would anyone here describe's Rozner's voice as anything other than grating, at best? Might as well just give David Schuster 4 hours of air time every day, then.

This.

Could you imagine if Dan tried to call his sources to verify a story Cowley had written? That would be fun.

Agreed on Rozner being an awful pairing. Honestly, I would prefer Grote. Larry is a good host, but paired with Dan, he's way too ass licky. Attabatcola wouldn't be terrible, from a challenging Dan standpoint, but he just doesn't add much to the show.

Plus, even though it's been decided, it's still good for these candidates to go through with the interview. Maybe you impress Mitch for the next opening.

Out of towners are looking at this as a chance to at least introduce themselves to Mitch. They might not know it's been decided. But just showing Mitch that they exist is a positive thing.

But the current guys at the SCORE know it's decided.

Still, like I said, it's still good for Zawaski, drinky, Ostrowski and Shep to clean up, put on a suit, do the interview and try to convince Mitch that they're not the dumb asses that Mitch thinks that they are. It won't work. But, from their perspective, they might think it will work. For the next opening.

Cowley needs to be in the role which Greg Cote has on the Dan LeBatard show. He is the 3rd wheel all show for one day a week, I forget if it's Wednesdays or Thursdays.

If Cowley had that role, and served as the principal fill-in host when either of the main two chairs were on vacation, that would be a good setup.

Honestly, every realistic candidate is pretty awful. I guess the least worst might be Goff or Rosenbloom, but who knows.

Goff would be better with Bernstein. Bernstein has a structure to his show. Bernstein does actually plan segments. He has an idea of what he wants to do every day. Goff and Spiegel don't. Goff goes to the bathroom, sees shit in the toilet, comes back and decides that is the next segment. That's how their show rolls.

Bernstein drives the show now. He would drive it with Goff. The constant "Laughing like a crazy fool" would stop. Goff would be better. Not good, but not god awful. He would be like he was when he produced the B&B show when he was basically the 3rd host for the last 2 or 3 years of doing that.

No doubt Jason would thrive under his radio dad. I wonder how Julie will fit in.

Probably like Goff in his later years as B&B producer and Drinky of recent vintage: producer/update person regularly, but not afraid (read: encouraged, when there's justice for which to wage war) to jump into the conversation. For some reason, Mitch seems averse to the idea of a legitimate 3-person booth, even for a 5 hour show.

Sure, Dan drives the show, but I'm not sure how good he is at "managing the clock" as they say. I can't say for sure, but I get the idea the "GO TO BREAK" Joe Buck drop, as well as the Thibs "Let's go" hit spawn from the show's inability to hit its marks for ad breaks, and if it's Dan driving the show, as it has been for the last 5+ years, then that falls squarely on him.

He has great form, in that his throws to break and rejoins are solid, but I'm not convinced that he does so in a "timely" manner, despite his pay grade and standing with the station, as the producers seem to have to regularly remind him (a couple of times a week, at least) to get to break.

If they fill the job internally, I predict they'll go with Spiegel. Someone that's worked for the station in middays as long as he has would have to be considered for a promotion when an afternoon drive spot becomes available.

Using similar logic, Holmes would be my 2nd guess, but he was passed over for the midday job after both Mac and Mannelly left, so it seems that the station sees nights and fill-in host as the best role for him.

Grimace will be too lazy to apply. Plus he doesn't have to do crap to keep up with Goff. With Bernsie he'd actually have to think a little bit.

No. Spiegel hates Bernstein. Yeah, I guess afternoons would be a promotion for him. But he'd rather stay in midday than be with Bernstein for 25 hours a week.

Larry would absolutely take it and be perfectly fine with kissing Bernstein's ass 25 hours a week.

That's probably true. Spiegel seems to be fine with Goff dominating segments with long-winded, nonsensical rants. Less for him to do.

Why assume Mitch has any real power in picking Dan's partner? Beerstain is the biggus dickus at the station. He'll have to give any blessing to a replacement for Boers. Could definitely see Dan wanting a person of color or to allow JDC more air time.

Well then, it sounds like he'd be the perfect replacement for Boers.

There's also the respect factor. Goff admires Bernstein and wants his approval like so many others at the SCORE. Where as he doesn't much care for Spiegel. Goff thinks he's an over emotional/sentimental jack ass. And that a lot of that is also phony.

With that, Goff would try harder if paired with Bernstein. Less winging it. More trying to come up with something of substance. But Bernstein would eventually end up steering Goff like he's done with Terry over the years. Goff wouldn't use slang words much around Bernstein because Bernstein frowns upon that.

There is no fucking way Dan could put up with a numbskull like Goff. No way.

You're right. Not this current version. I'm saying Goff would change. If he doesn't, Bernstein would chew him up. Goff knows that. Goff's afraid of that. So he wouldn't be the ass clown that he is with Spiegel. Like I said, he would end up being a "Yes man" out of fear.

No fucking way it is meatpants. Dan would kill him in a few weeks and meatpants wants nothing to do with hanging out with Bernsie every day.

Has there been any mention of a timeline for this? Will they have someone ready to go in January or will we go through an interim period of fill ins again?

Not sure. Goff was joking today about producers vying for his job, and he said something like "January 20th comes and they'll get my ass up outta here", and Spiegel laughed heartily. I don't know when books come out for these guys, so he may be referencing that, but my first impression was that he's talking about a new host at the station to take the spot created by Terry on the 5th.

Even if the 20th is completely unrelated to Terry's spot, I don't think they'll have someone ready by the 5th to do a full-time gig with Bernstein or in any other time slot.
