Second trailer is out. Looks pretty damn good. I'm all for Disney releasing these spin off movies as long as they are entertaining.

I like the look of it. Hoping the story is good and the characters are well done. I am interested to see how these one off Star Wars movies are. REALLY
looking forward to a movie showing a young Han Solo and Chewbacca, maybe how they met or one of their smuggling operations where they go up
against Boba Fett or explain how he gets in so much trouble with Jabba.

Looks good to me. For as big a Star Wars fan I am I have never gotten into the offshoot stuff. These should do fine for me between main movies.

I thought I'd read a rumor that the movie would 'end' shortly before before ANH 'starts', which I think, if true, would be rather chub-inducing.

I am not sure how close they can get to the start of ANH really. Without them in the movie at all how do you get to a princess with the plans and droids on a cruiser?

Have pretty high hopes as I think these non-trilogy movies will take some chances that the new trilogy movies would never risk. The previews should get some awards at least, the Klaxon sound, the fake star wipe into Death Star wipe, and the Star Wars theme on that piano in the first preview were wonderful.

Aren't the Star Wars previews always better than the movies?

R2 could make a cameo near the end. Would be cool if they could kind of link the two with a common character or location.

You can simply mention them by name, you can show a long shot of the three heading down a corridor or onto the ship, you can hear her and/or the droids off-screen say a line, there's any number of ways to tie it all together ... 98%+ of the audience would need maybe one second of reference to put two and two together.

I don't know. The rumor that that one will be a musical has me hedging my bets.

Pretty much every movie's preview is better than the movie.

Good thing there isn't twitter in Star Wars or this would be two hours of him tweeting at Julie DiCaro.

Luke, be a Jedi tonight!
Just be a Jedi tonight!

Do it for Yoda, while we serve our guests a soda.

Uh, and do it for Chewie, and the Ewoks, and all the other puppets ...

Luke, be a Jedi tonight!

I suppose tat's true when it comes to blockbusters like Rogue One is expected to be. I think there was an an unusually strong disparity, though, between the quality of the awesome previews for A Force Awakens and the middling (at best) finished product. This is another way of saying I'm not expecting a lot from this movie, especially since the preview doesn't amount to anything special.

The first teaser trailer for Rogue One was better than the 2 full trailers.

I still don't get why they haven't made Timothy Zahn's Thrawn Trilogy into movies yet. They were the best of the expanded universe novels, and rumor has it that they were at one time seriously considering doing them in lieu of the prequel trilogy. I guess that would be giving Star Wars fans what they actually wanted instead of pandering to them with fan service and rehashing what made the original trilogy great in order to appeal to an audience of the lowest common denominator.

I read those about 25 years ago and remember them being pretty good at the time, although I don't completely remember the premise any longer.

That would be a cool way to end it. A shot showing the plans being loaded into R2. Funny thing about this movie is we all know the mission is successful.

Yes, that is kind of what I was thinking. Loading the plans into R2 and having him roll off to meet up with the Princess or something.

Thrawn is currently in the Rebels TV show.

i think lucas wanted to do his own films, use only his own source material. look how great that worked out for everybody.

Purchased my pre sale tix for the December 15th screening. I am confident these won't sell as quickly as the Force Awakens but
since I live near the theater I decided I might as well pick a couple up.

These are fantastic. When I heard that they were making a new trilogy, I was hoping they were going with a total reboot and doing the Thrawn trilogy.

There is a Han Solo origin story trilogy as well. Those were OK, I wouldn't mind seeing a couple movies based on that.

Starting to get pretty excited to see this Thursday night. Initial reviews that I read this afternoon have been very positive. Most
of them are claiming that they get this story right and that it is more for adults and essentially a war movie in a sense. I like
the sound of that.

Have heard great things about Vader in it. Was kinda wondering how they were going to play it. It'd be pretty easy to have him just show up and expect the audience to be happy with whatever he did, but the description of his signature scene sounded awesome and not just fan service. Looking back most everyone loved the Yoda spinny flippy shit he pulled in AotC with Dooku when it happened, but it doesn't hold up well. Vader's scene should, hopefully.
