You can say Penn State et al, but the tenor of the show shifted when they were moved to drive time. It's really a shame.

Another marking point of the show's decline is when drinky went "FULL RETARD".

Now, that point happened when drinky realized what the show had become. That he had no influence and stopped caring. When he realized that Dan thought he was a dumb ass. And when he realized he was never going to get his own show.

So drinky went "Full Retard".

I would say this happened about 5 or 6 years ago.



But he did anyway against this great advice.

B&B was once decent, but will never rank higher than 3rd in the Score annals, behind Monsters and HFC.

Since no one here listens anymore, how can anyone compare the show to how it used to be?

I started listening after 3 today, and I think they were discussing that Terry is bald so people coming to the remote would know before seeing him. Then they debated whether Terry should wear a toupee or not.

Never confuse activity with accomplishment.

I wouldn't say this show "always sucked," but it is definitely overrated and over loved. Probably because it has been on for such a long time.

I can't speak for others, but I listened up until the Penn State debacle. It was decent enough before CTE and Penn State turned the hosts into insufferable know it alls who treat the listeners like crap.

Even after Penn State I wasn't totally turned off. My favorite Bernsie line that really got me was "you are not allowed to say that!" responding to callers that said Kane's accuser might be lying. The whole situation was too much to write here but his overall insistence he was not saying Kane was guilty but disallowing any thought or idea or friggin speech that he might be not guilty was something else. Then when the whole case blew up his "I never said he was guilty" shtick was ugh.

I wish I could go. As for why I listen it is just lack of alternative and habit. I like the Chicago connection in that format. I do W&S in small doses. Probably will increase that depending how replacing Terry goes.

I used to love holiday season at the Score. The hosts were always in a good mood and the bench players they brought in were people who had sufficient talent to have a future on air in the business. The Little Guys commercials were a signal that the holiday season had begun. This was the days when the listeners were considered a part of the Score family.

I think I listened to the station on a weekday for the first time since before Thanksgiving this morning. Mully was amazed that Sager loved the Cubs. More rah, rah! for our corporate partner. Then some shilling for B and B final broadcast where they so appreciate their listeners that they will take the next two weeks off leading up to this momentous occasion.

The station still has its moments but it has fully actualized Dan's philosophy that the listener is not the Score's customer.

You will hear tears shed about the love of listeners on 1/5 but that is hollow. You can't beat me for 364 days then tell me you love me for 1 and think everything is great.

That can't be done unless some of them are done together. So maybe they'll have Jiggs and North together. Spiegel and Goff will be together.

It would be fitting if Mac and Bernstein did the final half hour with Terry.

Middays were the best. High noon and all the rest of it. Drive time made them feel like they had to be assholes all the time mainly Danny poo. Still it was a good listen 70% of the time. Like any other thing in life lots of good mixed with a little bad. Gonna miss Terry.

I'm presuming that Mac opens and Bernstein finishes, both for symmetry with real life and so they don't have to see each other.

That might be the way to do it.

In fact, Mac should do the first 2.5 hours while brining in the guests. Bernstein should do the final 2.5. That would be the best way to do it.

I'd be disappointed if Bernstein gets considerable airtime. The last show should be a celebration full of happiness and reflection.

I have not listened to B&B in a couple years, but I may tomorrow to celebrate the end of the worst sports talk show ever to be heard in Chicago. Hell, I may even call in, to thank Terry for finally going away. Not that he had a choice, since his contract was expiring and the station was not going to renew his contract. Good riddance. The only thing that could be really good about the show might be clips from old HFC shows and an appearance from Mac on the show, which I suspect may take place.

I think this is spot on. Not because I think Bernsie will come in with some ulterior motive or plan. I simply think that even in the simplest of situations on the radio he can't not be the main voice talking. It would be constant interruptions and bringing stories back to his experiences.
