Singer George Michael has died.

His publicist confirmed the death to the BBC. He was 53.

The BBC reports the singer, “passed away peacefully at home.”

In a statement, the star’s publicist said:

It is with great sadness that we can confirm our beloved son, brother and friend George passed away peacefully at home over the Christmas period. The family would ask that their privacy be respected at this difficult and emotional time. There will be no further comment at this stage.

This year sucks. Glad it is ending. I saw him 2 times solo. I am even in one of his videos. "Don't let the Sun Go Down on me." Filed at the Rosemont. When they do crowd shots I am the guy with my hand all banaged up.

Yup in second level ,left side of stage. We got searched when we got there ,they had signs up saying there was going to be a "special" guest.

Um no, good music , didn't like the Wham stuff but as a solo artist was not bad the Faith album was a classic.

What is the difference between a microwave and George Michael?

A microwave stops when you open the door.

I guess 2016 really was his Last Christmas.

Seriously, though, he had a fantastic voice.

btw, while i'm on the topic of my "go-to" george michael song... i gotta point out that some years ago i was talking to someone about buffy the vampiure slayer and the dumbass asked me if i was a buffy or faith guy...... well hey, you know.... seeing as i'm bringing this up after i just dropped that george michael quote, man, you know what george michael quote i gave them to answer a question that seriously should go without saying. anyone who ever found sarah michelle gellar hot beyond season 1 of buffy (back when she either had a lil adorable baby fat or str8up padded the hell out of her bra/s to give the illusion of a nice healthy heaving bosom) = clearly they have some issues to work out because there's no way in hell that any virile hetero male could want buffy > faith. yeah.... HEY GEORGE, WHAT DO YOU GOT FOR US?! I HEAR YOU TOE TAPPING A RHYTHM IN THE BATHROOM STALL OVER THERE SO TELL ME WHAT YA GOT BOYEEEE!!!!

THE PRECIDING POST WAS MADE IN A FOREST PRESERVE BATHROOM IN AN ATTEMPT TO RECREATE A LEGENDARY SCENE FROM THE EQUALLY LEGENDARY MOVIE "KIDS IN THE HALL: BRAIN CANDY"
