Thought it was a good start to the season. It does seem there are only 8 episodes left until the writers strike has made its mark, which puts it at March 20th.

Anyone catch Christian Sheppard, Jack's Dad, in the rocking chair when Hurley looks in the cabin? You have to have the brightness on the TV up all the way to see him. This was the same thing they did with Jacob last season.

Well, three of the "Oceanic 6" are known.

Hopefully this season wont lull in the middle and ends up being solid for a bit.

I think from this point to the end it's nothing but flash-forwards.

I didn't catch Jack's Dad in the chair.......

One thing that I am curious about is the guy who parachutes onto the island in the last scene. When he first took his helmet off he looked like Charlie, but then obviously wasn't, but the pauses made me think that either I was or Jack and Kate were sapposed to know who this guy was..........?????

I read an article by some entertainment lady and she had already seen the first four episodes of the new season. She said that they were all great and they had both flash-forwards and flash-back

"Anyone catch Christian Sheppard, Jack's Dad, in the rocking chair when Hurley looks in the cabin?"

This is exactly why I keep Lost on my DVR for a couple weeks, when other people notice things I completely missed.

Funny you said that. I didn't see him, but I noticed in the flash forward at the end of last season that there was a reference that his dad was alive. Jack was arguing with the other doctor about operating on the victim of the car crash and said that he could go ask his father (or something like that) who was the chief surgeon. I thought that was odd, but I figured since it was "drunken stupor with a Kyle Orton beard" Jack that he might have forgotten that his father was dead.

So what the f*ck was with the Asian-American ghostbuster guy introduced in last night's episode? I don't think this is a promising plot turn....

it's just "lost" being "lost"...

on a side note, WTF is with every asian-american male casting call requirement to be irritable and/or indifferent to everything?

I'm not sure what that means, but I don't like the sound of it. :?: :?: :(

Remember when 'the drunk pilot' used to be a Sawyer type hunk back in the 80s:

He was also the Lawnmower Man

well count how many times in the 3 full seasons the show's been on when all of the sudden they conveniently create characters to seal up a plot hole, usually creating more along the way. "Lost" has been guilty of this mulitple times. I'm not surprised, it just better go somewhere.

Yeah, plot holes/inconsistencies are annoying. But the whole supernatural "ghost" thing--and here I'm talking about the "Jacob" stuff--is even more egregious to me. If they really press forward with this idea, I see some dismal tv on the horizon.

Alias was pretty riveting the first few seasons and then it just lost all direction completely and was so stupid at the end it was unwatchable.

Agreed. I hope the same thing doesn't happen to Lost.

I'd like to say it's because JJ Abrams was pre-occupied with Mission Impossible III - but I don't think so.

At least they know their 'end game' now and can prepare for it accordingly. 46 more episodes.

Isn't the plot with the 'five different people' and their talents a bit like the movie SPECIES?

That was exactly my first thought!

So why would they send a psychic, an anthropologist, and a physicist to retrieve Ben?

Also, if their main mission was to get Ben, why did Naomi have a picture of Desmond and Penny?

Is that right? I thought they only had 8 in the can. If the strike is settled, there'll be more, correct?

From what I read, the strike is still not technically over. Once it is, they would have a couple months of writing, shooting, etc, but the caveat is that all the actors/actresses actually are available.

JJ Abrams and Damon Lindelof are starting to dangerously look a lot like Chris Carter and Frank Spotnitz... :(

Yeah, last night was just damn tedious. The episodes are starting to remind me of a first-year undergraduate research paper--where students will just aimlessly ramble for page after page so they can meet the length requirement.

If it wasn't for my mancrush on Michael Emerson, I would feel the same way about where the season has gone so far

What drives me nuts is that the producers said there was no "time travel", which is now obviously bullshit. They are probably going to justify it by saying that Desmond is not physically traveling through time, only his mind is. So did they steal this from the butterfly effect or what! Bloody nose? Losing consciousness? Time between jumps getting faster?

Anyone notice the other time travel dude, George, was the same guy from the movie Hackers?

Here is an interesting one. Accoring to the auction from this episode, Hanso (creator of Dharma) was lost at sea in 1875. Hanso also started the Hanso Foundation in the 1960s. Will the huge gap be explained by time travel as well? I summize that we will see Hanso again as the "leader" of the freighter crew and real leader of the bad guys.

I dont know why, but every Desmond episode turns out to be horrible.

Also, Lost will take a month off and be back in April for 5 episodes.
