They are now nominating her no matter how bad her movies are. She could not even try and she will get nominated. It's sort of a joke at this point. Obviously, she is a great actress, but that doesn't mean that every role she has is worth an award, which Hollywood seems to think.

True. I'll admit, I probably haven't seen 90% of the movies she's done over the last 15 years or so. So I don't know if she's good or bad. I saw Bridges of Maddison. I think that's the last one. She was good in that.

Maybe it just means there are no good roles for women in movies, so, by default, she gets nominated for everything cuz people know her.

I would take her more seriously if she didn't try to position herself and her well heeled friends as likely victims of Trump's reign of terror. Does anyone other than Hollywood actors and actresses view Hollywood actors and actresses as "outsiders"? And while it's a real tragedy that poor Meryl's heart was broken during the past year, perhaps it wasn't the best rhetorical strategy to place her feelings at the center of the current political tumult. Of course, to realize her tactical error, Streep would have had to flee from her narcissistic cocoon for a few minutes. But I'm sure doing so would have proven to be the real heartbreak for her. Fuck her and her melodramatic histrionics. What an asshole.
